About the Role
The role is working within Diageo's Central Maturation Sites across the Central Belt, based mainly at Blackgrange Site near Alloa. Operations include cask warehousing, disgorging, blending and filling operations. The key purpose of the role is to work as part the leadership team, to support the delivery of the Maturation strategy through leading, motivating and managing the maintenance team, to deliver a high level of service in a manufacturing environment.
The Mechanical Engineering Business Leader role requires an individual with high drive, energy and ambition to achieve successful outcomes and high standards through engaging a high performing team. With a continual focus on safety, efficiency, service and quality, this role requires someone who can multitask and prioritise engineering decisions.
As part of Central Maturation Engineering Centre, leading the Mechanical Maintenance Team in collaboration with Electrical, Control and Asset Care leads to provide world class Engineering and Asset Maintenance to the sites
The role provides an excellent opportunity for a natural born leader to further develop their leadership and functional skills within a varied and demanding live operational setting and, an opportunity to increase exposure and build networks across Diageo.
Top key responsibilities are
- Driving the delivery of the Engineering Centres KPI's and site Asset Availability within the designated budget with a specific focus on controllable costs including labour, Parts and contractor costs.
- Involvement in driving significant cost efficiency by optimising performance and reducing costs.
- Leading and motivating the Mechanical Engineering team, whilst ensuring that focus and attention is given to Safety, Compliance, Productivity, Delivery, Quality and Cost.
- Improving the Business through driving positive change within your area, using manufacturing excellence practices to influence better.
- Providing clear direction and clarity to the team through communicating in a compelling, persuasive and impactful way, is a key part of the Business Leader role.
- Creating an environment that supports an inclusive and positive culture, where people feel they are listened to, valued and developed. Actively spotting opportunities or issues and identifying which are urgent is an important skill in this role. Sound judgement and considered communication are required to minimise issues.
- Supporting the delivery of the Central Maturation Sites Engineering strategy including embedding the Manufacturing Excellence programme.
- Developing strong relationships with and work with stakeholders across Finance, Governance, HR and External suppliers/agencies.
- The role requires to travel to other maturation sites within central belt as needed.
- Requirement to cover on-call duty manager.
About You
- Mechanical Engineering subject area qualifications and experience, Degree or equivalent experience or HND qualified.
- Natural leaders with a consistent record in leading a high performing team.
- Experience in developing effective working relationships with stakeholders and working in partnership with other teams.
- The Nebosh Health and Safety qualification is a pre-requisite for the role - if you don't already have it you need to be willing to achieve this qualification.
- Full clean UK driving license >1 year of experience.
