Diageo is a global leader in beverage alcohol with an outstanding collection of brands across spirits and beer categories. These brands include Johnnie Walker, Crown Royal, J&B, Buchanan's and Windsor whiskies, Smirnoff, Cîroc and Ketel One vodkas, Captain Morgan, Baileys, Don Julio, Tanqueray and Guinness.
Diageo's new €200 million state-of-the-art carbon neutral brewery in Newbridge, Co. Kildare will brew lagers and ales including Rockshore, Harp, Smithwick's, Kilkenny and Carlsberg. With a capacity of 2 million hectolitres, it will be the second largest brewing operation in Ireland after St. James's Gate and support the future growth of Diageo Ireland's beer brands.

The state-of-the-art brewery will be powered with 100% renewable energy and will harness the latest process technology to minimise overall energy and water consumption. The target date for the brewery to begin production is 2026 and it will facilitate the growth of overall beer exports from Ireland. It will also facilitate enhanced capacity for the production of the fast-growing Guinness 0.0 at the traditional home of Guinness at St James's Gate in Dublin.
About the Role
The Manufacturing Excellence Lead will be integral to the Operations team, responsible for embedding the Manufacturing Excellence (MANEX) framework across all areas of the brewery, utilities, and water treatment plants.
This role will ensure that world-class manufacturing practices are in place from the beginning, driving operational readiness and instilling a culture of continuous improvement.
As the ManEx subject matter expert, you will work closely with both leadership and operations teams, providing coaching, mentorship, and training to ensure engagement with the project rollout.
Key Responsibilities
The Manufacturing Excellence Lead will spearhead the rollout of the ManEx programme, setting up pillars and work practices for success.
You will collaborate with other workstreams, such as Capability, to deliver a comprehensive operational readiness strategy.
Key tasks include developing and delivering a ManEx training programme, ensuring asset care and autonomous maintenance pillars are in place, and guiding early equipment management processes.
You will also set up the site's continuous improvement culture, implementing problem-solving methodologies such as DMAIC and 5Whys, and establish a tiered structure for performance monitoring and daily operations reviews.
Additionally, you will drive the site's digitalisation agenda, including the rollout of connected worker platforms and other digital supply chain technologies.
About You
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in a process environment.
A Science or Engineering is advantageous, along with a strong understanding of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement methodologies, and digital supply chain technologies.
You should have experience leading teams, managing cross-functional projects, and implementing manufacturing excellence tools like 5S, Six Sigma, and reliability-centered maintenance.
Excellent coaching and interpersonal skills are essential, as well as the ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive cultural change.
Experience working within performance management structures and familiarity with the MANEX platform will be distinct advantages.
