About the role

Purpose:

The Manager of Data Tools and Applications plays a meaningful role in ensuring the efficient utilization and functionality of data reporting tools and applications within the commercial organization. This role is responsible for leading all aspects of the creation, implementation, and maintenance of data-related tools, enabling efficient data management, analysis, and decision-making across the organization.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Analytics leadership and business teams to develop a strategic roadmap for data reporting tools and applications that aligns with the organization's commercial objectives.
  • Identify and evaluate new technologies and trends in reporting and analytics tools to drive innovation and competitive advantage.
  • Lead all aspects of the implementation and integration of selected tools and applications, ensuring smooth deployment and adoption across relevant departments.
  • Configure and customize data tools and applications to align with specific business processes and requirements, improving their effectiveness and utility.
  • Collaborate with vendors and IT teams to solve issues, implement updates, and address technical challenges as needed.
  • Data Governance and Security:
  • Establish and make sure data governance policies and procedures to ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of commercial data.
  • Implement security measures and protocols to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access, breaches, and cyber threats.
  • Training and Support:
  • Develop and deliver training programs and materials to educate end-users on the functionality and capabilities of data tools and applications.
  • Provide ongoing support and assistance to users, addressing questions, resolving issues, and optimizing utilization of data tools and applications.


Key Outputs
  • Comprehensive Measurement and Evaluation Strategies: Develop and implement strategies for measuring and evaluating sales performance, aligned with organizational goals.
  • Actionable Insights: Deliver actionable insights derived from data analysis to drive informed decision-making and performance optimization.
  • Performance Tracking Tools: Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and scorecards to track sales performance and communicate key metrics to customers.
  • Process Improvements: Find opportunities for process improvement and optimization within the sales organization, leading to increased efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Training and Development Programs: Deliver training and support to sales teams on data interpretation and reporting tools, fostering a data-driven culture.


About you
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in data reporting, analytics, or related fields, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Demonstrable Skills:
  • Proficiency in data reporting tools and applications, such as PowerBI (Ideally) or others, and business intelligence software
  • Solid understanding of reporting, visualization and data usability principles and standard methodologies.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to lead multi-functional teams and handle sophisticated implementation projects.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to successfully collaborate with customers at all levels of the organization.

  • Indirect management of off-shore contractors


Barriers to Success in Role
  • Inability to scale solutions across existing data platforms.
  • Inability to grasp nuances and data incongruities of the US Spirits industry.
  • Inability build relationships and translate for collaborators.
  • Inability to lead through and across a matrixed organization including linking with the wider commercial community.
  • Lack of ambitious drive or an ability to be a self-starter.
