  • We have an outstanding collection of world-leading tequila brands in our portfolio. Carefully crafted in Mexico from Agave Weber Blue Variety and enjoyed by consumers worldwide. Tequila is one of Diageo´s largest category, after Scotch. The popularity of tequila is on the rise among consumers, representing a great opportunity to drive growth. In F25 first half, our tequila net sales grew 21%, driven by Don Julio and Casamigos in North America. Today Don Julio is sold in over 50 countries and Casamigos in over 30 countries.
  • Our Agriculture operations span across Jalisco and bordering states, and encompass expertise in agave production, management and partnerships with third-party operators to ensure quality, sustainability and ethical sourcing. This is unique for Diageo as it is the only backward integrated category to secure unconstrained supply of Agave (the main raw material). Today Diageo´s own Agave operations cater to approx. 25% of the overall Agave requirement. The ambition is to further secure Agave supply to avoid any disruptions in a volatile Agave market.
  • The role supports an employee base of approx. 1000 employees that are geographically spread in 400 agave fields within 900 sq kilometers' area. Agriculture workforce is unionized, with approx. 35% attrition and come from a less organized industry.

About the role
  • Will play a pivotal role in shaping the talent/workforce strategies that are fit for purpose for Agriculture in a fast-evolving labor law environment in Mexico. The HRBP - Agriculture will work directly with the Category HR Director and the Agriculture Director to deliver the people and culture agenda, which propels the category to success through activities including:
  • Partner with the Agriculture leadership team to build and deliver ambitious and innovative talent/workforce plans grounded in the strategy, which includes exploring staffing strategies to be efficient, scale up and down at speed, robust organizational planning to de-risk the organization / future proof the business, resourcing for our biggest opportunities at pace, strong proactive pipeline of talent, and creating exciting, accelerated career paths for people (within and beyond Agriculture) which accelerate their development. The role will create the highest impact by unlocking opportunities to engage cyclic/seasonal workforce requirements.
  • Champion our Inclusion and Diversity agenda bespoke to Manufacturing, creating impact through all HR levers (talent, reward, culture, learning, etc), building an inclusive culture where each employee feels valued for their uniqueness and can improve their impact Creating Agriculture specific interventions to create a level playing ground where everyone can thrive.
  • Partnering with the Organization Efficiency and Capability agenda in the category strategy, by using data and analytics, creating possibilities that result in high-performing and impactful performance, delivering cost efficiencies, and injecting the right reinvestments.
  • Enable the culture transformation within Operations, including shaping the culture agenda for the new greenfield by continued embedding of the Diageo Behaviors, supporting and challenging leaders to embrace agility and speed, and driving accountability for bold and confident decision making.
  • Build high-performing teams, coaching line managers to create an agile, stretching and focused performance environment to enable outstanding performance.
  • Actively collaborate with the E2E Diageo HR team, including shared services and our Centers of Excellence, to deliver impactful employee experiences every time.
  • Instills a continuous learning culture throughout the Category, ensuring employees have access to stretching experiences and outstanding learning content that fuels constant growth in their capabilities and our business performance.
  • Partners with the Employee Relations leader to maintain a healthy and productive Employee Relations (ER) Climate. The role is the first level critical issue for Employee Relations matters such as individual end-to-end ER case management (e.g. Disciplinary, grievances, ill health retirement, long term absence, etc). And for collaborating with union and non-union forums around change, developing a strong Union relationship.
  • Will lead HR Coordinators and accelerate a self-service mentality through building capability amongst front-line managers to be the first point of contact for the geographically spread-out workforce. Accountable for the development of agile HR talent who create conditions to bring out the best from the leaders and talent.

Qualifications & Critical Experience required
  • Bring thought leadership from deep Functional Knowledge of leading HR for a large manufacturing organization to shape the People & Culture Strategy that is fit for purpose for the context. Categorize priorities that span across all strategic levers, looking beyond the financial year on how to bring the future forward and creating performance impact at scale.
  • Have Eye For Business and deep understanding of working around Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Morale, Sustainability to be able to create new opportunities and ways forward through diverse inputs using external intelligence and insights from HR data, analyzing to measure impacts, assess plans, diagnose trends and link to business performance outcomes.
  • Leadership that is inspiring through purpose! Demonstrates Diageo behaviors to continuously improve HR delivery, harnessing innovation and technology to exceed our customer expectations.
  • Provoke / Challenge to surface problems and lead creative solutions through a culture of collaboration and a previously successful way of working, removing duplication and championing efficiency and simplification.
  • Deliver outcomes through Interpersonal skills, building and nurturing genuine relationships based on mutual trust and respect, collaborating with and influencing across a variety of key partners at all levels, resulting in strong and positive outcomes.
  • Thrives in an environment dealing with ambiguity, complexity, and working within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and matrixed environment.
  • Experience working across multiple countries, geographies, and cultures.
  • A master's degree or equivalent experience in human resource management with at least 10 years of working experience supporting a large / multi-site manufacturing set up with a unionized population.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written Spanish and English is a must.
