Global Engineering are at the centre of this ambition, and we will need to lead the way for asset master planning and brilliantly execute bigger and more complex projects.

About the Role

The role is positioned in the Diageo Global Engineering team providing Capital Expenditure (CapEx) Project Management services to Diageo's Europe Beer's primary Brewing site; St James' Gate (SJG). The overall purpose of the team is to deliver the investment plan (Annual Operating Plan - AOP) for asset investments on a year-on-year basis. Total annual investment in Europe Beer is c. $200m.

SJG is Diageo's largest manufacturing facility in the Beer network, and the largest stout brewery in the world. It produces more than three million pints of Guinness every day, supplying a growing Irish and UK market, and exporting to 90 global markets. This is an exciting time in Beer, with significant growth in the total category, as well as the phenomenal success of Guinness 0.0 brand, the SJG site is at a full capacity of 8 million hectolitres. Therefore, Diageo are in the progress of building Ireland's first purpose-built carbon neutral brewery on a greenfield site in Littleconnell, Newbridge, Co. Kildare. The new facility will brew lagers and ales and will soon be operational with a capacity of 2 million hectolitres. In addition, Diageo are embarking on a significant investment to decarbonise and reduce water usage at the SJG facility, in line with our Spirit of Progress Sustainability goals.

Europe Beer also comprises two packaging facilities in England & Northern Ireland. It sits within the wider Global Beer Category, which includes Diageo's manufacturing facilities in Africa. Although based in SJG, the role holder will also be required to spend significant time at the Little Connell site. Furthermore, from time to time may need to support the UK packaging sites or Global Beer sites in Africa. This would be determined by business priorities.

As a Project Manager in our Beer Supply footprint, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of our growth and innovation agenda.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Aligning project deliverables with the market requirements.
  • Working closely with partners in technical and governance teams to deliver to correct technical specification.
  • Building conditions to influence others in service of project progress.
  • Deliver to schedule and budget.
  • Managing Health & Safety of contractor works.
  • Ensuring compliance with appropriate Health, Safety and Environmental standards, Legal & Regulatory Standards.


About You

To be successful at this role, you'll be able to adapt style & approach to different situations and manage cultural sensitivity. You will be flexible in approach but passionate about delivering the right outcomes.

  • Engineering knowledge and experience
  • Considerable project management experience
  • Experience of procurement systems and processes
  • Effective stakeholder management, influencing and communication skills
