About the Team
Irish Brand Homes is Diageo's Premier collection of Visitor Experiences in Ireland where our world Class teams share the stories of our brands to all our guests. The largest brand home, the Guinness Storehouse anchors the St James Gate campus with the Guinness Open Gate Brewery and the Roe & Co Whiskey Distillery as neighbours whilst our Smithwick's Experience takes pride of place on the site of the original Smithwick's Brewery in Kilkenny. Each of our brand homes include a visitor experience, World Class Bars, Restaurants and retail stores. A key strategic objective for our successful retail business is to grow our ecommerce retail business. Currently our ecommerce business includes 3 live transactional sites (GSH, Roe & Co & a Corporate gifting site) and 1 soon to be launched site. These sites are critical brand touchpoints and revenue drivers providing our brand homes with an opportunity to reach a huge audience showcasing our branded merchandise, innovations and cultural collaborations. There is tremendous opportunity to grow our ecommerce department and extend our sites to a global community.
About the Role
The Ecommerce Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to optimize the online shopping experience, drive sales, and enhance customer satisfaction. They will lead a team of ecommerce professionals in pursuit of ecommerce excellence. Collaborating efficiently with the wider retail management and Irish Brand Homes management teams, they will advocate for the ecommerce department ensuring that the needs of the ecommerce department are met and supported by the wider business. Principally the ecommerce manager will work closely with the Head of Retail on the development of a long term strategy for the ecommerce offering in Irish Brand Homes including realisation of the potential of Guinness Brand Homes ecommerce channels, membership and subscription models and monetising content.
The Ecommerce Manager will work across departments in IBH primarily in the retail business however will partner with wider IBH and Diageo Brand Home departments to ensure successful operation of the ecommerce department. This will involve working with a myriad of stakeholders who will have differing levels of engagement with our ecommerce ambitions. The role will also require working with complex technologies and digital solutions ensuring all designs are compliant and adhere to Diageo privacy, technology and global policy standards. Championing an omni-channel vision and our future strategic vision will be essential to gaining buy in and support. Another complexity is the ongoing projects of Prometheus and Symposium which will hugely impact our ecommerce operation and will require significant input from the Ecommerce Manager.
You will be responsible for:
Developing and Implementing eCommerce Strategy
- Strategic Planning: Crafting a comprehensive strategy that aligns with business objectives and market trends.
- Execution: Overseeing the implementation of the strategy to ensure it drives growth and achieves targeted goals.
Optimizing the Customer Journey
- User Experience (UX): Ensuring a seamless, intuitive user experience across all digital platforms. • Customer Retention: Implementing strategies such as loyalty programs and personalized recommendations to enhance customer retention. • Ensuring we deliver Only Guinness Can Do Customer Service
Driving Digital Marketing Initiatives
- Developing & executing targeted digital marketing campaigns including SEO, PPC, email marketing, social media advertising, & content marketing
Managing Product Assortment
- Selecting product offerings based on market trends, cultural moments, sales data and consumer demands ensuring product launches are well executed and thought out.
Transform the ecommerce operation by playing instrumental role in Projects Prometheus and Symposium
- Ensure all ecommerce team are engaged, participating and prepared for Projects Prometheus and Symposium .
- Leverage learnings from initial implementations of above projects to support future vision of the ecommerce strategy.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor's Degree: A degree in business administration, marketing, eCommerce, or a related field is often preferred. Advanced Degrees/Certifications: Additional qualifications such as an MBA or certifications in digital marketing, eCommerce management, or related areas can be beneficial.
- Technical Skills Proficiency in eCommerce platforms (e.g. Shopify, Magento), digital marketing tools (Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Google Analytics, SEO, PPC), & web analytics
- Strong strategic thinking & analytical skills for developing effective strategies, making data-driven decisions, & optimizing performance metrics
- In-depth knowledge of digital marketing techniques including SEO, PPC, email marketing, social media advertising, & content marketing
- Industry Experience: Several years of experience in eCommerce or digital marketing roles within the retail industry
- Leadership Experience: Proven track record of managing teams and leading eCommerce projects. Knowledge of the hospitality, visitor experience, retail, entertainment industry a plus.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication skills for coordinating with cross-functional teams, presenting ideas effectively, & building strong relationships with stakeholders
- Problem-Solving: A strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, able to solve complex design and business challenges creatively.
- Knowledge of Web Technologies: Familiarity with front-end technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Shopify, Jira) to communicate effectively with developers.
- Project Management Skills: Experience in planning & executing projects within deadlines & budget constraints; strong organizational skills for managing multiple initiatives simultaneously
- Customer Focus Understanding customer behaviour & preferences; ability to create user-centric experiences that drive engagement & satisfaction
- Experience of 3PL Ecommerce Operations Knowledge and understanding of how 3rd party logistic partners can contribute to a successful and profitable ecommerce operation
