PAY RATE: $28.27/hour (85% upon hire; 95% after 6 months; 100% after 12 months.).

WORK LOCATION: 3900 Benson Pike Shelbyville, KY 40065

SCHEDULE: Plant runs a 24/7, 12 hour shift operation. Shifts are determined by hiring team based on availability and qualifications. Schedule is 6-6:30 (AM or PM)

At Diageo Bulleit, we seek to operate a Zero Harm environment. We believe everyone goes home safe, every day, everywhere! In this role you will promote and lead a spirit of "Safety First" in all other areas of the operation! The ability to address problems and work in highly effective teams is critical for success. As a self-motivated member of the Diageo Bulleit Distillery Team, you will provide support, training and mentor to your fellow team members, and encourage and engage others. You will have the opportunity to also work closely with multi-functional departments (Operations, Risk, Quality, Maturation, Logistics, and Procurement) to ensure the safe and efficient operation of all aspects of the facility. A few more things:

Role Responsibilities:
  • Control and monitoring of distillery/dryhouse processes and related activities. Safety, distillate quality, production efficiency, energy management, production planning and cost efficiency.
  • Full compliance with all regulatory requirements and Diageo procedures relating to site risk, TTB and environmental constraints.
  • Use of automated production recording and management reporting systems e.g. SAP.
  • Demonstration and promotion of positive actions and behaviors within and out with the workplace.
  • Support to "on-call" managers that is likely to include:
    The completion of plant operating, H & S, environmental and security checks.
  • Performing minor maintenance (cleaning, inspection and lubrication of equipment). Safe & efficient production of a high-quality product.
  • Organize and prioritize production operations and dispatches in accordance with agreed plans.
  • Identify and analyze any non-conforming deviations from the expected process parameters.
  • Respond appropriately to a range of breakdown, accident or emergency situations. This will include initial contact with emergency service(s).
  • Maintaining accurate process and inventory records.


Experience / skills required: About you

You will be responsible for:
  • Operating the distillery and dryhouse per Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Monitoring and controlling the process.
  • Identifying and correcting deviations from standard process parameters.
  • Reacting to abnormal conditions, breakdowns, and emergencies.
  • Maintaining accurate process and inventory records.
  • Maintaining a high standard of distillate quality.


You will actively:
  • Continually improving distillery operations.
  • Meeting or exceeding operations goals/Key Performance Indicators.
  • Finding solutions to distillery issues and break downs by using Root Cause Problem Solving.
  • Sensory evaluations.
  • Optimizing yield and minimizing waste.
  • Cross functional training in all distillation areas to support flexibility.


You will need:
  • Minimum 21 years of age.
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant process operating experience in any of the following environments distilling/brewing/food manufacture/petrochemical/pharmaceutical and/or the equivalent process technical training with proven achievements.
  • Experience working with automated process systems and PLCs.
  • Excellent communication skills demonstrated partnership capability and can-do attitude.
  • Willingness to work towards industry qualifications.
  • Full driving license.
  • A working knowledge and understanding of health and safety, TTB and environmental risk management principles.
  • PC/Systems skills. SAP knowledge would be an asset.
  • Flexibility to adapt to different shift working practices and patterns. The distillery will operate on a 24/7 basis. Shift work is required on a 7-day schedule including holidays. Will be assigned to day shift or night shift once trained.
