Purpose of the Role
- Diageo's performance ambition is to become the best performing, most trusted and respected consumer products company in the world.
- GB is Diageo's second largest market and represents 45% of the Europe region performance outcome.
- As a Demand Planner within GB, your scope is to generate, analyse and publish the 1 - 24 month market forecast for the full market portfolio. The portfolio will be divided across the Demand Planning teams.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Undertake weekly data integrity check of all demand planning master data fields within APO to ensure all SKU forecasts can be passed over to Supply Planning without error.
- Monthly review and selection of ‘best fit' statistical forecast models for your portfolio, ensuring they reflect market trends & product category growth assumptions.
- Complete all relevant historical cleansing activities to enhance statistical modelling and remove irregular activity from forecast publication.
- Participate in the relevant GB S&OP Cycle meetings by providing forecast performance insight to help shape and align monthly forecast changes.
- Collaborate with Customer Operation Lead's for key product/customer combinations to evaluate SIT & EPOS data to make any necessary forecast adjustments.
- Apply promotional & seasonal overlays to baseline statistical forecast at weekly level, to generate accurate phasing of stock production and deployment within the GB warehousing network.
- Ensure forecast signal reflects correct warehouse direction, ensuring all rework and direct-to-customer volume forecasts are accurately published to APO.
- Provide weekly sales vs. forecast information to the GBSC performance management cycle, ensuring all forecast variations and exceptions are understood and supported with a recovery plan where necessary.
- Develop & improve the monthly root causing packs for your KPI accountability, ensuring it is easily understood at GBSC LT management level.
- Partner with Innovation on innovation and renovation and ensuring right building blocks/assumptions are used. Reviewing first productions volumes and pro-actively flagging risk to help support best availability whilst not creating SLOBs.
- Application of Product Lifecycle Planning.
- Partner with Market & Supply Planning colleagues to ensure weekly alerts reporting is complete and all SKU's subject to OOS or Excess Inventory risk have a recovery plan.
- Support Network Supply Manager in root causing SLOBs portfolio, particularly when forecast variance has caused this, whilst adjusting ongoing forecast to prevent future SLOBs.
- Ensuring network balance is reviewed to decrease stock moving below minimum sell shelf life thresholds
Skills and Experience Required
- Highly Analytical & Numerate - Confident in handling large datasets and converting raw data into digestible information, e.g. able to identify the ‘why' behind the ‘what' of the data.
- Excellent Influencing & Interpersonal Skills - Ability to challenge senior colleagues to generate better performance outcomes; arguing your case whilst still respecting other opinions.
- Communication & Presentation Skills - Ability to articulate potentially complex and vague concepts clearly to large groups; take a data-led approach to meeting/e-mail updates to ‘cut through' the noise of day-to-day meetings & processes.
- Ability to prioritise workload and effective diary management are a must, whilst converting manuals tasks to systemic, automated processes
- Several years experience in a Demand, Supply or Logistics Planning role
- Proficient user of Microsoft Excel, knowledge of Power BI/SQL or similar preferred
- Exposure to different trade channels - Grocery, On Trade, Wholesale & Convenience, E-Commerce
- Demonstrable knowledge of end-to-end supply chain and different teams' roles & responsibilities
- Enjoy working in a fast paced, dynamic and at times vague commercial environment.
