About the function:

Diageo's Analytics & Insights (A&I) team is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing analytics products to drive our competitive advantage and enable empirically based decisions.

As part of the Analytics & Insight team, you will play a role for continuing to advance the sophistication of the power of analytics throughout Diageo. You will serve as an evangelist for the power of data and support the development of analytics products to enable decisions at Diageo. You will become an invaluable partner to your stakeholders, help catalyse their thinking about what's possible, support them gaining trust from their data, identify meaningful insights from large data and metadata sources; interpret and communicate insights and findings from analysis and experiments to drive top line growth, personalised consumer experiences and optimises business processes.

The role will not have direct budget responsibility but will need to be financially aware of responsibilities and remain budget conscious and compliant.

Market Environment/ Complexity

This role has Global responsibility spanning several Global Applications, within the context of allocated data domain of consumer, customer, supply, procurement, finance, and people.

The role will interface with senior management, process owners, business stakeholders and service delivery teams (both internal and external). These relationships will encompass people based in a variety of geographies, multiple cultures, languages, and time zones

Creating Possibilities - Lead, mentor, and inspire data users and creators, implementing data management and unlocking new opportunities for data

Purpose of Role:

The purpose of this role is to lead and own the data agenda for the successful implementation and deployment of Diageo's ambitious LEAPFROG transformation program, which aims to convert Diageo into process-driven organisation in the Sell-product area, improve cash collection and become a preferred supplier to our customers.

The role will be integral to program delivery, working within the tempo of project plan, ensuring data delivery and governance standards are followed and managed within the PACE framework.

The role will work with in-market SME's, technical owners, product managers and data owners to drive the appropriate data activities in the aim of delivering fit for purpose process enablement data for data-driven decision making. These activities will cover the assessment and gap analysis of required data in line with the LEAPFROG expectations, ensure that development of necessary data procurement or process improvement plans (which create data) is happening within the agreed order and timelines by the Central Data Foundations programme (Project Symphony), ensure project compliance aligned to our data policies, develop & assign data issue resolution processes, educating business users on their responsibilities with data, and guarantee data quality is built into various systems and teams.

The role owner will develop and lead the roadmap for delivering data for the LEAPFROG program and then control its implementiond through close stakeholder management and influencing.

Top 3-5 Accountabilities

LEAPFROG data plan and roadmap:

Plan all data activities required within the program, to the timelines of program delivery, following PACE methodology.

Single point of contact and accountability to drive the LEAPROG data agenda through partnering with DA&I, Global Sales, GBO, D&T, markets and vendors.

Adherence to Data Governance, Delivery & Data Quality standards and approach methodologies:

Develop and implement data plan in line with Diageo's data governance & data quality policies and processes.

Implement processes to address and improve trust in data.

Partner with DA&I to follow the data delivery framework to enable sustainable data foundations for LEAPFROG solutioning and transition to run.

Data Assessment, Gap Analysis and fulfilment planning:

Data assessment and gap analysis to the requirements of LEAPFROG needs.

Data procurement planning and/or process improvement plans to ensure data quality and standardisation at source.

Identify data dependencies and work with wider team to resolve.

Align with Central Data foundations programme on cost and effort gathering & collation, ensuring expectations and priorities are aligned with LEAPFROG project team, in line with budget.

Embed Data Ownership

Identify data owners within the organisation and ensure accountabilities are firmly understood and embedded in respect of LEAPFROG data delivery.

Develop agreed data RASCI's for the ongoing run of data delivery within the program.

Documentation and Communication:

Ensure the data processes, methodologies, and solutions for knowledge sharing and training purposes are documented by the Central Data foundations programme.

Ensure that management and assignation of metadata documentation of the VS KPIs, data assets and products within Alation is delivered by the Central Data foundations programme.

Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand and implement data requirements

Collaborate with executives, department heads, and other stakeholders to align data initiatives with VS objectives

Qualifications and Experience Required:

An ideal Analytics Data Lead should have a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and business acumen to effectively drive the VS/Function`s data initiatives and contribute to its overall success.

Essential Skills for this position
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics).
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within data analytics or related field.
  • Strong proficiency in data management, analytics tools, and good grounding in programming (e.g., SQL, Python).
  • In-depth knowledge of data governance principles and best practices.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, GCP) and big data technologies.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in project delivery/leadership - preferably in agile project


Preferred Skills
  • Certification in data management or analytics (e.g., CDMP, DASCA).
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Experience with agile methodologies and project management.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific regulations related to data (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
