The function

Diageo Corporate has a cost base of ~£800m that is spread across different corporate functions, locations, and accounting systems. Efficient use of this spend requires information to be readily available to many individuals in a variety of formats as well as effective management and control of the overall financial control environment. As Corporate is a Global function, costs can arise in virtually every market in Diageo, so this is truly a global role.

An adequate overview of the different activities/departments is required such as:

- Global Diageo reporting process

- Global Corporate functional activities

- General Accounting / Fin Exp team activities

The role

The role has no direct reports, however, efficient communication and coordination with Corporate FP&A and with business partners are a requirement, since the role plays a leadership role in developing the processes and ways of workings. Besides, the person will also take on ownership over their respective business area, has to be able to lead changes in a fast-paced environment, and provide a comprehensive overview to the Corporate OH manager and functional (business) partners with regards to their budget decisions.

Key responsibilities:
  • Lead and coordinate FP&A processes such as planning, reporting and O&R for the Corporate Function. It is required to take on comprehensive roles across the team such as supporting the Corporate OH manager in the coordination of Corporate planning and O&R exercise, acting as an exceptional finance business partner to collaborators, assisting in various business transformation projects and in Group level initiatives which have an impact on the functional budget.
  • Coordinate the FP&A process including Annual Plan, monthly Actuals, Analysis, Opportunities and Risks for P&L, supporting cash and working capital, to achieve timely and quality submission as per the timeline.
  • Act like an owner of your supported function and provide outstanding finance business partnering to collaborators.
  • Maintain control over a global team's budget/scope for accurate forecasting and analysis.
  • Effectively lead senior partners queries and ad-hoc information requests.
  • Gain a multidisciplinary view over your area and quickly follow up on changes and (re)act if/when required.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and hold them to account when required.
  • Support the process of business transformations and ongoing projects for the Corporate function.


About You
  • Degree educated in relevant finance / accounting/ business
  • 5-8 years of relevant professional experience
  • Proven track record in finance business partnering
  • Experience working within an international / multicultural environment
  • Experience of working in a role requiring strong communication skills (negotiation, influencing, managing expectations)
  • Proficient in English
  • Excellent financial analytical and Excel skills
  • Knowledge of SAP or other ERP system
  • Analytical skills and a high degree of attention to detail
  • Able to manage changes in a fast-paced environment
  • A qualification in accountancy is an advantage.
