We (Digital Member Experience team) are responsible for making Delta Dental of California's new Member Self Service and Provider Search experience delightful. We are looking for a proactive Senior Quality Engineer with deep technical expertise in JavaScript based automation frameworks, strong problem-solving skills and a passion for quality.
The Senior Quality Engineer will work alongside both business and technical team members to ensure the usability and functionality of products, services and systems. Your work will contribute to the team's overall strategic plan to maintain and improve production quality and processes by creating automation design and implementation using the approved automation test suites used in the organization.

Responsibilities:
- Reviews requirements, specifications and create technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback.
- Helps estimate, prioritize and plan test automation activities.
- Collaborates with internal teams (i.e. developers, product managers, administrators) to understand and solidify testing requirements
- Maintains knowledge, ensures competency and compliance with policies and procedures, in order to be the technical expert while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Creates detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases.
- Estimates, prioritizes, plans and coordinates testing activities.
- Executes test cases and / or automation scripts. Identifies and documents defects thoroughly.
- Develops and maintains automated tests to execute the test plans and works to reduce the amount of manual testing by automating as much of the testing process as possible.
- Configures automated tests to run on demand and on-schedule and monitors the results of test runs to ensure that tests are running correctly and that environments are in order.
- Develops best practices and standards and works with teams to ensure these are utilized.
- Collaborates with our engineering teams on best practices, process changes and standards as part of continuous process improvement.
- Helps develop and implement test automation strategies for teams.
- Contributes to and helps grow Delta's Automation Community of Practice.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in automation testing, with a solid track record in designing, implementing, and optimizing automated testing frameworks.
- 5+ years of experience in automation testing using JavaScript, with proficiency in WebdriverIO.
- In-depth knowledge of JavaScript-based automation frameworks and their application in building scalable, reusable test scripts.
- Proven experience with PostMan and SOAPUI for thorough REST API testing.
- Hands-on experience with Jenkins, Azure DevOps, and GitHub Actions for seamless integration of testing within CI/CD pipelines.
- Must have experience with JIRA for defect tracking and Zephyr for test management and reporting.
- Experienced with SQL, XML, and JSON.
- In-depth experience in functional, cross-browser, and responsive UI testing.
- Strong understanding of web application Quality Assurance principles, industry practices, and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Knowledge.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of root cause analysis techniques.
- Ability to mentor others.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
Base Pay Information
The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity.
Pay Grade 21. $80,500 - $174,300
