Senior Data Analyst (Sr. Marketing Business Intelligence Analyst)

The Senior Data Analyst, aka Senior Marketing Business Intelligence Analyst, will partner with business leaders, technology teams, product development, marketing partners and more, to identify business challenges, formulate a data plan, drive insights, build requirements, develop solutions and act as a Technical Project Manager to deliver results for our business teams. Successful candidate will utilize multiple data sources, execute complex data analysis and work with partners internal and external to Delta Dental to achieve quantifiable results that will impact the enterprise.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs data analysis, time series analysis, experimentation, and data visualization, responds to ad-hoc requests from business partners to identify, quantify opportunities and/or address specific questions to deliver business outcome.
  • Manages requirements elicitation, analysis and documentation processes to capture business and end user needs. Prioritizes needs within and across projects based on business impact.
  • Drives analytics design decisions by taking relevant inputs from business teams and defining clear plan.
  • Leads projects using data mining and data visualization techniques to discover insights that will guide strategic decisions and uncover optimization opportunities.
  • Utilizes programming language to perform advanced-level data extraction, transformation and data management; fully document and manage library of source code and algorithms for future use.
  • Acts as expert on business data and works closely with Data COE and Technology team to improve the data quality, data definition and consistency. Working with relevant teams to establish scalable, efficient, automated processes for data analyses.
  • Ensures standards, policies and processes are followed in delivering data solutions.
  • Collaborates with internal and external partners to resolve immediate support related questions and issues.
  • Provides team leadership and enterprise leadership across data domains.
  • Participates in presentations to stakeholders, effectively communicating the key findings and recommendations to support data driven and evidence-based decision-making.
  • Owns end-to-end solutioning for Marketing database systems and applications.
  • Analyzes current processes and identifies existing or potential problems in order to discover new process improvement opportunities.
  • Experience working with Salesforce.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years professional experience with Bachelor's degree.
  • Strong experience in facilitating the discovery process with functional stakeholders to identify requirements and expected outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge of data mining principles
  • Understanding of and experience using analytical concepts and statistical techniques: hypothesis development, designing tests/experiments, analyzing data, drawing conclusions, and developing actionable recommendations for business units.
  • Excellent SQL and data warehouse skills. Experience writing complex queries on large data sets.
  • Able to build spreadsheet models, and sort through complex data
  • Expertise with data visualization and dashboard tools such as Tableau, Looker, or equivalent.
  • Experience manipulating data sets using programming skills in any language (Python, R, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills, including communicating technical issues to non-technical audiences
  • Strong presentation skills. Should be comfortable with presenting to all levels of management
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with cross functional teams
  • Solid planning, priority setting, and project management skills with experience managing multiple projects concurrently
  • A self-starter that adapts well to change in a fast-paced, dynamic workplace and works well in cross-functional teams/projects
  • A problem solver and planner, has strong quality control, adaptability and customer service skills
  • Ability to break down complex problems into pieces that can be solved with data, analysis, assumptions, and judgment

Base Pay Information

The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity. $70,000 - $146,600
