The Associate Accountant is responsible for entry- to mid-level accounting functions, specifically focusing on unclaimed property, while ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and statutory regulations. This role could also support the monthly close process and prepare both internal and external financial reports.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee and manage the escheatment process of outstanding checks, ensuring compliance with state-specific unclaimed property regulations.
• Prepare and send courtesy and demand letters for outstanding checks as part of the unclaimed property process.
• Work extensively within the unclaimed property system, maintaining accurate records and documentation.

• Upload and monitor files related to outstanding checks, ensuring timely and accurate processing in compliance with escheatment requirements.
• Collaborate with accounting and compliance teams to uphold state requirements for unclaimed property reporting.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED required; additional education in finance or accounting is a plus.
• Working knowledge of GAAP principles.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks effectively.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
• Detail-oriented with solid analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Oracle Financial or similar ERP software is preferred.
• Proven ability to collaborate and communicate effectively across various functions and organizational levels.
• Ability to report to the Oakland, CA office a minimum of 1 time per week.
Base Pay Information
The national base pay range at the end is a good faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications, and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity.
Pay Grade 16. $45,400 - $95,000
