Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Tax Senior in Costa Mesa, CA.
Work You'll Do
Assist clients with fundamental tax planning and analysis, work to understand company-specific business and tax issues and identify and mitigate risk areas. Under the supervision of Tax Managers, oversee tax consulting projects for clients in diverse industries. Research and analyze a wide range of tax issues encountered on engagements. Assume tax-planning responsibilities for our federal clients and assist with the supervision of assignments. Assist with tax planning opportunity identification, implementing tax planning projects, providing tax research and analysis for clients in diverse industries, and keeping up-to-date on current tax practices and technical issues. Develop a working knowledge of the client's business and tax systems, take responsibility for clearing open items relating to assigned areas, meeting client deadlines, and contribute to the successful completion of projects. Mentor and coach junior team members and escalate issues when necessary. Actively participate in engagement planning and decision-making.

Requirements
- Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
- Eighteen (18) months of experience as a Tax Senior or related occupation gaining experience providing tax planning services or preparing and reviewing client work papers and tax returns.
- Experience must include eighteen (18) months of:
- Preparing federal and state/local income tax returns for partnerships, corporations, high net-worth individuals, trusts, and Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs);
- Utilizing tax software, including CCH Axcess, Corptax, and GoSystem, to prepare federal, state, local, and international income tax returns, and calculate estimated tax and process filings, and utilizing tax research resources, including CCH and BNA, to respond to federal and multistate tax notices for Partnerships, REITs, Trusts, and Individuals;
- Preparing quarterly and annual provisions in accordance with ASC 740;
- Applying Subchapter K, and identifying technical issues for real estate-related funds, including basis, transfer of property, and terminations;
- Applying tax compliance calculations to the preparation of various returns for Trusts, Individuals, and publicly traded and private companies, including C-Corporations, Partnerships, and REITs;
- Conducting quarterly and annual assets/income testing for REITs, reviewing E&P calculations and distributions, and preparing and reviewing federal and state income tax returns for REITs;
- Analyzing partnership agreements with respect to real estate funds and operating companies in order to calculate partnership allocations;
- Preparing and reviewing partnership taxable income allocation reports, and calculating and reviewing target capital accounts, waterfall, preferred return, and promote interest allocations;
- Assisting with estate planning for high net-worth individuals and families, including legacy assessments; and
- Mentoring and coaching junior team members.
- Position requires approximately 10% domestic travel.
- Salary: $77,700.00 - $144,300.00/year
