Position Summary

Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Tax Senior in Chicago, Illinois.

Work You'll Do

Develop and facilitate training on specialized topics relating to tax equity investment and renewable energy. Review and prepare strategic analysis of consolidated assembled client deliverables, including but not limited to Section 42, Section 45, and Section 48. Develop and maintain client relationship by understanding their unique tax needs and provide tailored solutions. Perform due diligence review on tax equity investments, including renewable energy projects that are eligible for tax credits under Section 45 and Section 48 and low-income housing projects that are eligible for tax credits under Section 42, including reviewing transaction documents, project economic models, project valuation reports and tax opinions, and communicate findings to client on the financial, tax and accounting impacts of the investment. Perform due diligence review on mergers and acquisitions in the energy and infrastructure industry, including the review of transaction documents and seller provided financial model and valuation reports, and communicate the findings to the client with a focus on partnership and corporate tax implications. Develop financial models for renewable energy projects using Microsoft Excel to analyze the economic and financial performance of the project, calculate complex partnership and corporate tax structures and accounting implications, and serve as a tool for evaluating potential investments. Assist clients with accounting implications associated with tax equity structures, including Hypothetical Liquidation Book Value ("HLBV") Income Recognition Model and Proportional Amortization Model ("PAM") under U.S. GAAP. Will commute within the Chicago, Illinois area to consult with clients concerning the above job duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Accounting Science, Finance, Accountancy or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent)
  • Eighteen months of experience as a Tax Senior or related occupation gaining tax equity advisory experience.
  • Experience must include eighteen months of:
    • performing due diligence review on tax equity investments, including, renewable energy projects that are eligible for tax credits under Section 45 and Section 48 and low-income housing projects that are eligible for tax credits under Section 42, including reviewing transaction documents, project economic models, project valuation reports and tax opinions, and communicating findings to client on the financial, tax and accounting impacts of the investment
    • performing due diligence review on mergers and acquisitions in the energy and infrastructure industry including the review of transaction documents and seller provided financial model and valuation reports, and communicating the findings to the client with a focus on partnership and corporate tax implications
    • performing due diligence review on new market tax credits eligible under Section 45, including reviewing transaction documents, project economic projections, tax opinions, and communicate findings to clients on financial and tax impacts on the investment
    • developing financial models for renewable energy projects using Microsoft Excel to analyze the economic and financial performance of the project, calculate complex partnership and corporate tax structures and accounting implications, and serve as a tool for evaluating potential investments
    • developing financial models that have the functionality to run multiple scenarios, presenting complex scenario analysis and advising clients on the optimal tax equity financing structures and terms, including tax credit election and transfer of credits under Section 6418 of the IRA
    • assisting clients with accounting implications associated with tax equity structures, including Hypothetical Liquidation Book Value ("HLBV") Income Recognition Model and Proportional Amortization Model ("PAM") under U.S. GAAP
    • reviewing client partnership tax work papers inclusive of 704(b) capital accounts outside tax basis and tax depreciation calculations
    • updating and maintaining tax equity investment tracking models, including tax, accounting, and cash
    • mentoring and coaching junior team members
  • Less than 10% domestic travel required outside of normal commuting distance.
  • Salary: $71,610.00 - $132,990.00/year
