Position Summary

Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Tax Senior in San Jose, CA.

Work You'll Do

Arrange meetings with client subject matter experts. Review and revise draft technical memorandum to document project development process. Review and recommend revisions for the assembled client deliverable. Prepare strategic analysis of consolidated and standardized source data. Work with local office Deloitte Tax professionals to assist clients with fundamental tax planning and analysis. Work to understand company-specific business and tax issues and work with the company to optimize its tax position to identify and mitigate risk areas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Accounting, Taxation, Economics, Finance or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
  • Eighteen months of experience as a Tax Senior or related occupation gaining tax equity advisory experience.

  • Performing due diligence review on tax equity investments, including for renewable energy projects that are eligible for tax credits under Section 45 and Section 48 and low-income housing projects that are eligible for tax credits under Section 42, including reviewing transaction documents, project economic models, project valuation reports and tax opinions, and communicating findings to client on the financial, tax and accounting impacts of the investment;
  • Performing due diligence review on mergers and acquisitions in the energy and infrastructure industry including the review of transaction documents and seller provided financial model and valuation reports, and communicating the findings to the client with a focus on partnership and corporate tax implications;
  • Developing financial models for renewable energy projects using Microsoft Excel to analyze the economic and financial performance of the project, calculate complex partnership and corporate tax structures and accounting implications, and serve as a tool for evaluating potential investments;
  • Facilitating and providing support with stakeholder education on tax structuring, tax due diligence, financial model review, term negotiation, and transaction execution;
  • Developing financial models that have the functionality to run multiple scenarios, presenting complex scenario analysis and advising clients on the optimal tax equity financing structures and terms, including tax credit election and transfer of credits under Section 6418 of the IRA;
  • Assisting clients with accounting implications associated with tax equity structures, including Hypothetical Liquidation Book Value ("HLBV") Income Recognition Model and Proportional Amortization Model ("PAM") under U.S. GAAP;
  • Reviewing client partnership tax work papers inclusive of 704(b) capital accounts outside tax basis and tax depreciation calculations; and
  • Developing and maintaining tax equity investment tracking models, including tax, accounting, and cash.
  • Salary: $81,620.00 - $151,580.00/year
