Position Summary

Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Tax Senior in Boston, MA.

Work You'll Do

Assist clients with fundamental tax planning and analysis. Work to understand company-specific business and tax issues and work with the company to optimize its tax position to identify and mitigate risk areas. Assist clients in streamlining their tax compliance process, especially in the area of partnership specific tax calculations and Schedule K-1 preparation. Assist clients in various industries with: Life Events for Partnerships (formations, terminations, mergers), Inside and Outside Basis Computations, Section 704(c) and 743(b) Computations, Schedule K-1 processing, and development of custom technology solutions to streamline the compliance process. Develop client service relationships and facilitate specialized Deloitte tax services to improve compliance with taxing entities while maintaining each client's overall tax risk profile. Apply federal tax compliance principles and work closely with clients as well as the Deloitte tax team to further clients global goals and strategies and align them with industry and economic trends. Liaise between business team and software development team to ensure that requirements are implemented as per business need, and ensure performance requirements are met and applications are effective for users. Mentor and coach junior team members. Provide expertise in tax process and data management solutions utilizing workflow, document management, and data collection.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Taxation, Quantitative Finance, Business Administration, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
  • Eighteen months of experience as a Tax Senior or related occupation gaining experience performing tax planning services.
  • Experience must include one year of:
  • Researching and analyzing complex tax issues, including evaluating and examining changes in tax laws and regulations and determining their effects on hedge fund and mutual fund industries;
  • Coordinating and communicating with client engagement teams to gather tax data and review information for completeness;
  • Preparing, reviewing, and finalizing complex book-to-tax adjustments for tax workpapers and returns, including extensions, estimates, and tax provisions;
  • Conducting tax adjustments specifically for investment funds, including wash sales, constructive sales, straddles, dividends, swaps, 1256, and PFIC;
  • Mapping tax data to standard import formats for book-to-tax calculations;
  • Creating ETL workflows using Python and Alteryx to automate the cleaning, transforming, mapping, and importing data processes; and
  • Performing data wrangling and preparing data analytical models to help with strategic initiatives, and building visualization dashboards using Tableau to provide impactful insights.
