Position Summary

Deloitte's Tax Operate practice helps tax leaders redesign their tax operating models through a focus on operations, technology, and talent.

Work you'll do:

  • Collaborate with our clients to develop their vision for the future of tax, considering data, people, process, technology and governance
  • Facilitate client workshops to explore operating model needs and analyze alternative solutions
  • Organize transformation workstream activities and develop workplans to achieve our client's desired outcomes
  • Align and coordinate resources to deliver workstream objectives and establish accountability for results
  • Establish, monitor, guide and assess ongoing projects/engagements against established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Liaise with various workstreams and teams within the firm to drive collaboration and integration where appropriate
  • Identify areas of risk/opportunity, develop appropriate risk mitigation strategies and escalate project issues and risks to management as needed
  • Identify process improvement opportunities
  • Develop communications and presentations and ensure communication of project/program initiatives, messages and status to appropriate parties

We are seeking high-performing individuals to support the growth of our Tax Operate practice and the exceptional quality of service our clients receive with the following priorities:

  • Grow our client base and competitive market share through new sales and brand/eminence activities,
  • Evolve our clients' experience in working with us by ensuring consistent high-quality results that are delivered in an increasingly digital and truly integrated way, and
  • Transform our delivery model to apply automation and process enhancements to ensure quality and increase efficiency.

The Team:

The Tax Operate team supports Lead Tax Partners in pursuing, transitioning, and optimizing Tax Operate engagements, as well as facilitating Tax Operate Labs - highly interactive workshops designed to help tax executives outline their vision, explore the Art of the Possible, and develop an operations transformation roadmap for their tax departments. The National Tax Operate team also supports the Tax Operate Regional and Local office leaders in developing and delivering their marketplace strategies

Qualifications

Required

  • Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2 - 3 days per week
  • 5+ years of tax operations project management, and budgeting and analysis experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology or related field
  • One of the following accreditations obtained:
    • Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA exam
    • If not CPA eligible:
      • Licensed attorney
      • Enrolled Agent
      • Certifications:
        • Chartered Financial Advisor (CFA)
        • Certified Financial Planner (CFP)
      • Technical Certifications:
        • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Ability to travel up to 25%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve

Preferred

  • Advanced degree such as Masters of Tax, JD, and/or LLM
  • Previous Big 4 or large CPA firm experience
  • Experience supporting client's operating model transformation, (e.g., shifting from a decentralized model to a globally centralized model), including navigating transition considerations and risks
  • Experience communicating the considerations and benefits of operating model alternatives
  • Experience communicating the role process standardization and technology automation play in tax operating model transformation
  • Experience synthesizing and summarizing complex discussions, capturing key points in real-time (e.g., in OTT labs)
  • Experience with working across workstreams, prioritizing and flex based on demand
  • Strong analytic and reporting capability
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment of complexity, ambiguity and continual change/evolution
  • Process improvement, standardization and automation experience
  • Supervisory experience

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $104,160 to $193,440.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
