Position Summary
Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Tax Manager in New York, New York.
Work You'll Do
Help companies understand international trade requirements and align trade functions with business objectives. Advise U.S. and foreign multinational companies on global import and export strategies and compliance. Review and execute engagement strategy, including collaboration with senior management on the scope and the timeline of projects, selection of project staff and assignment of workload, and financial reporting. Work with clients to assess and potentially automate their international trade management procedures within all major trading regions. Collaborate with attorneys, operations experts, customs brokers, auditors, and trade management professionals to help importers and exporters achieve global compliance and realize efficiencies and advantages in their global supply chain. Oversee complex international trade projects for clients in diverse industries, as well as engaged in a merger, acquisition, or divestiture, maintaining compliance with multi-jurisdictional business transactions, or streamlining multinational supply chain. Will commute within the New York, NY area to consult with clients concerning the above job duties.

Requirements
- Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Law or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).
- Five (5) years of experience as a Tax Manager or related occupation gaining experience analyzing trade processes for multinational corporations.
- Experience must include five (5) years of:
- Providing recommendations to clients on trade flow organization and import and export processes;
- Advising clients on Customs valuation requirements, including related party transactions, royalties and other additions to value, and alternative valuation methods;
- Advising clients on global Importer/Exporter registrations, including identifying legal and tax requirements, preparing submissions, and working with authorities;
- Identifying international trade requirements triggered by company restructuring, including mergers and acquisitions;
- Advising clients on encryption regulations and associated import and export licensing requirements, notifications, and registrations, as applicable to multinational companies and their subsidiaries;
- Conducting post-entry reviews to test the accuracy of import documentation and identify any discrepancies with Customs laws and regulations to mitigate risk;
- Determining and validating Country of Origin requirements pursuant to Customs rules to qualify under special trade programs and to manage impacts of global tariff measures;
- Assisting with development of import compliance training materials to help companies understand domestic and international trade requirements;
- Reviewing regulatory requirements for importers, reviewing and providing recommendations on international trade contracts, and preparing memorandums on customs and international trade matters for clients; and
- Assisting with the full engagement lifecycle, including staffing, budgeting, and closing out projects, and mentoring and coaching junior team members.
- Less than 10% domestic travel outside of normal commuting distance.
- Salary: $142,646.00 - $235,170.00/year
