As a Tax Consultant within the Tax Operate group, you will be a valuable member on tax engagements, assisting with a variety of tax services that are relevant for Investment Management companies and large Corporate clients, including the governance of these large engagements and assisting national pursuits for new Tax Operate deals.

Provide governance and engagement management support on Investment Management Tax Compliance engagements and ensure transparency to the Client's tax compliance and reporting process through a web-based portal. Generally, these engagements involve services provided by multiple Deloitte Tax service lines.

  • Monitor service line compliance processes with established engagement protocols and tax filing deadlines
  • Prepare engagement status reports which are delivered to client on a periodic basis.
  • Conduct /participate on regular conference calls with Engagement Management Office (EMO) Team / service line teams to discuss engagement status.


  • Thoroughly and accurately document issue, actions taken and issue resolution.
    • Identify and escalate service line issues promptly and in accordance with engagement communication protocols. Actively participate in issue resolution.
    • Work with the respective service lines in identifying and resolving issues and sharing insights to improve our efficiency will be a key component.
  • Provide support on web-based platforms for new clients, manage access, archive, track contact changes, follow up service lines to complete initial confirmation and validation of obligations per scope agreed. Perform regular maintenance of web-based platforms, as needed.
  • Ensure engagement deliverables are posted to web-based platforms and that tax return status is accurately documented by respective service lines.
  • Support the contracting requirements, engagement financials, scope renewal process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned including assisting with new client transition and implementation processes.


  • Develop strong working relationships with the service line teams.
  • Continuously build on technical competence by keeping up to date on trends, developments and technical authorities and apply them to complex situations.

The Team

The Tax Operate team supports Lead Tax Partners in pursuing, transitioning, and optimizing engagements, as well as facilitating Labs - highly interactive workshops designed to help tax executives outline their vision, explore the Art of the Possible, and develop an operations transformation roadmap for their tax departments. For our largest accounts, the Tax Operate team establishes and leads a formal Engagement Management Office (EMO) to provide critical governance procedures to drive transparency and coordination, as well as support key areas such as resource management. Qualifications

Required

  • Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2 - 3 days per week

• 3+ years of experience multi-tasking and supporting multiple client projects simultaneously.

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • One of the following active accreditations obtained, in process, or willing and able to obtain:
    • Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA
    • If not CPA eligible:
      • Licensed Attorney
      • Enrolled Agent
      • Certifications:
        • Chartered Financial Advisor (CFA)
        • Certified Financial Planner (CFP)
        • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Ability to travel up to 25%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.

Preferred

  • Advanced degree such as Masters of Tax, JD, and/or LLM
  • Previous Big 4 or large CPA firm experience
  • Technology skills such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint are required. Skills pertaining to Power BI, Tableau and Alteryx, are an added advantage.
  • Experience working in a virtual and/or global environment
  • Experience supporting client's operating model transformation, (e.g., shifting from a decentralized model to a globally centralized model), including navigating transition considerations and risks
  • Experience with tax operating model alternatives and transitions, and large scale tax outsourcing projects a plus
  • Ability to synthesize and summarize complex discussions, capturing key points in real-time (e.g., in OTT labs)
  • Process improvement, standardization and automation experience
  • Collaborative workstyle; able to work across workstreams, prioritize and flex based on demand
  • Strong analytic and reporting capability
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment of complexity, ambiguity and continual change/evolution

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $61,120 to $91,680.
