Work you'll do

This position will play a pivotal role in enhancing our research administration capabilities and scaling our Cloud ERP/Finance solutions around grants management. It requires extensive experience in research administration, strategic leadership, and a deep understanding of ERP systems. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise to drive strategic initiatives, improve operational efficiencies, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Lead and manage complex research administration projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Oversee the implementation and optimization of Cloud ERP/Finance solutions to support grants management and financial compliance.
  • Manage the operational activities of research administration, including proposal submission, agreement negotiation, award management, and financial compliance.
  • Develop and implement policies and standard operating procedures for research administration functions, including export controls, conflict of interest, and research integrity.
  • Work closely with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions that enhance their research administration capabilities.
  • Lead and mentor a team of research administrators and ERP specialists, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including legal counsel, federal relations, and global research partners, to support research administration initiatives.
  • Oversee the development of training content related to sponsored programs and ERP systems, ensuring staff are well-equipped to manage research administration tasks.
  • Identify data and methods to collect feedback on research administration services, using insights to drive improvements and support decision-making.

Deloitte's Government and Public Services (GPS) practice - our people, ideas, technology and outcomes-is designed for impact. Serving federal, state, & local government clients as well as public higher education institutions, our team of over 15,000+ professionals brings fresh perspective to help clients anticipate disruption, reimagine the possible, and fulfill their mission promise.

The Emerging ERP Solutions practice helps implement cloud-based Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications such as Workday Financials and Infor. Teams support finance and supply-chain transformations where the software is a true enabler of process change and cost reduction.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in research administration and grants management.
  • Extensive experience with ERP systems, particularly Oracle Cloud.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
  • Ability to travel 25-50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.

Preferred:

  • Proven track record of managing large-scale research administration operations and strategic initiatives.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
