Work you'll do
The Foreign Affairs Specialist - Arms Transfer will work to develop and obtain intradepartmental and interagency consensus on political-military policy recommendations involving senior government officials as well as work on active arms transfer and high-profile regional security issues. As such they must be experienced and effective at communicating both verbally and in writing with senior (general officers and senior executive service) leaders. They must also be able to negotiate agreements among other bureaus and offices within the government defense space.

The GPS Strategy offering leads strategic planning & portfolio management and reporting & monitoring workstreams. This includes day-to-day client interaction and leads to the creation of relevant resources and materials (such as strategic plans, roadmaps, etc.) and work products (such as development of performance metrics, tracking dashboards, etc.) in order to successfully implement client vision.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Engineering, or other business-related field
- Must hold an Secret or above government security clearance
- Must be willing to report on-site in Washington D.C. ~5 days per week
- 2+ years of experience in military arms sales negotiation
- 2+ years of experience in key technical or regional areas, such as military experience, familiarity with weapons systems, time working with industry, or academic coursework or degree in international relations, foreign policy, or national security.
- 2+ years of experience of policy work and consensus-making with Federal Government partners from inside the Federal Government.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
Preferred:
- Previous experience as a foreign service officer, foreign affairs officer, or security cooperation officer
- 3+ years' experience with policy development and foreign military sales experience.
- A self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently, prioritize and get things done.
