Senior UNIX Systems Administrator (IT)
The DaVita Senior Systems Administrator works in a fast-paced, technology-dependent, security conscious environment. Administrators ensure the effective and efficient delivery of information systems within an ITIL structure. They are responsible for a combination of production support and new project initiatives. Senior Systems Administrators work to maintain a highly available environment in support of a large user community in a multi-platform, multi-location environment. This position requires a high level of experience in enterprise-level operations, organization, excellent communication skills, and the ability to prioritize projects in a dynamic environment. This position will report to the Manager of UNIX Systems.

Primary Duties
- Provide Senior-level support for day-to-day operations as well as guidance on new technologies that advance the capabilities of the Unix Infrastructure team.
- Provides second-level support for incoming tickets for production access, network or performance-related issues.
- Ensure high levels of performance and availability for production Linux environments that run a variety of applications including Oracle and DB2, Application Servers, and a variety of middleware applications.
- Help support Puppet Enterprise managed production systems to automate system maintenance.
- Helps develop, document, and implement operating standards.
- Create and maintain procedures and system runbooks within a Wiki structure, learning from other administrators as well as sharing knowledge.
- Coordinating the installation and configuration of new hardware.
- Participate in the full lifecycle of a system during the planning, build, administration and maintenance, and eventual decommission.
- Audit and remediate OS related security issues, as well as a patching schedule.
- Aids in installation of applications as required by development and application teams.
- Participate in new technology reviews.

- College degree in computer science or equivalent education and experience
- 8+ years' experience with AIX and/or Linux (RedHat and variants strongly preferred) in a highly-available production environment.
- Advanced shell scripting and/or Perl skills for system administration, monitoring, maintenance, and service delivery.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with technological leaders from multiple disciplines.
- Deep experience with troubleshooting enterprise Unix system problems including network connectivity, fiber channel connectivity, database and application issues in a highly complex production environment.
- Experience with the planning and implementation of highly complex projects that affect multiple technological disciplines.
- Advanced knowledge of physical and virtualized Unix operations in an enterprise environment, automated service delivery technology and methodologies, and security practices.
- Experience with performance tuning for a variety of enterprise applications such as databases and middleware applications running on Linux in a highly available production environment.
- Understanding of Storage Area Networks (Brocade switches, IBM Storage Virtualization and SAN systems, PureStorage systems)
- Working Knowledge of Infrastructure Security best practices
- Experience with enterprise systems management tools, HPSA, Puppet
- Working Knowledge of Samba or GPFS
- Disaster Recovery process review and testing

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Level III - Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic)
No required tasks involve greater exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues than would be encountered by a visitor. The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids or other hazardous conditions.
