GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

This position is a key contributor to the day-to-day operations of the EHS Department providing administrative support relative to EHS functions. Duties will include preforming hazard assessments and implementation of risk elimination measures, reporting safety metrics, supporting creation and implementation of safety and environmental programs. This position promotes positive safety culture and is responsible for safety and environmental compliance by training, auditing and working directly with all departments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety Program Support

  • Supports EHS department in ensuring a safe working environment for our teammates
  • Manage and maintain current and accurate safety policies
  • Perform risk assessments, design job/task hazard analysis and safety related job aids
  • Performs annual ergonomics assessments
  • Shadows TM throughout facility to assess risk and address safety concerns
  • Interact and partner with leadership team (Supervisors) to facilitate training, implement corrective actions, execute programs and support projects
  • Performs and ensures completion of routine preventative maintenance on safety systems i.e. emergency response kits, fire alarm system, and operation of emergency eye wash and showers
  • Supports the EHS department by completing safety and facility related tasks during preparation and response to emergencies
  • Supports EHS and Facilities during workplace repairs, installations or routine inspections of building systems
  • Oversees tracking and electronic documentation for Facility and Safety maintenance and inspection forms
  • Support the EHS Manager during regulatory audits and inspections
  • Act as the "designee" as needed

  • Maintains the chemical inventory for the entire facility
  • Performs annual review of Safety Data Sheets and ensures compliance with OSHA's Hazardous Communication regulation
  • Provides recommendations on safe chemical use, handling, storage and disposal (ensuring compliance with waste regulations)
  • Oversees hazardous waste disposal for chemicals - which can include physically transferring chemical waste to outside storage area
  • Tracks non-hazardous and uniform hazardous materials manifests
  • Acts as the Emergency Coordinator for hazardous waste incidents
Reporting & Metrics
  • Responsible for initial submission and timely response to all reported incidents
  • Initiate and support EHS Manager in conducting incident investigations
  • Collaboration with multiple lanes to determine corrective actions and safety controls
  • Monitors to identify trends and reports monthly metrics to the EHS Manager
  • Routinely tracks near misses and incidents reported by teammates using the Something Happened Intake Form
  • Participates in GEMBA walks, identifying and tracking safety related Improvement Opportunities
  • Oversees and assists in the completion of quarterly leadership Safety Surveys
Safety Culture & Training
  • Build relationships with teammates to support open communication about safety
  • Facilitates safety trainings during huddles/ homerooms
  • Provides content and participates in events supporting safety such as Lab Week, National Safety Month and Fire Prevention
  • Assists in instructing and documenting general safety trainings
  • Supports DaVita Labs journey towards a preventative safety culture
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • 2 to 4 years experience
  • Must have Bachelors Degree
  • Understanding of Hazardous Materials - required
  • Knowledge of safety management systems, Hierarchy of Controls, applicable regulations and standards (OSHA, NFPA, CAP) - required
  • First Aid/ CPR or emergency response experience - preferred
  • Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics - required
