As a Staff Engineer, you will drive high value projects spanning multiple teams and services. You can expect to make key technical decisions relating to the building of our data ingestion, processing, and querying systems.We are looking for someone that will be the go to person for resolving in-depth performance issues and scalability bottlenecks. This person will have had years of experience with large scale distributed systems. This person will also work closely with product and engineering leadership to shape and enable new features across multiple teams.

What You'll Do:

  • Design and drive high-priority, high-visibility projects to increase the platform's value, resilience, and scalability across multiple teams.
  • Provide technical leadership across several areas of the platform.
  • Lead and guide other engineers through architectural platform decisions that rely on distributed, high-throughput, real-time systems.
  • Collaborate closely with design partners, product managers and platform engineering teams to quickly iterate on proof of concept capabilities. 
  • Design and build highly resilient architectures.
  • Provide input on prioritizing engineering-led initiatives in short- and long-term planning as well as contribute to both the product and engineering roadmaps.

 

Who You Are:

  • You have led large cross-team initiatives.
  • You have led impactful technical initiatives in an environment where performance, cost efficiency, ease of use, and resilience/operability are first-order concerns.
  • You have significant back-end programming experience and have architected, built, and operated distributed systems to solve problems at a high scale.
  • You enjoy mentoring and coaching other engineers to become more complete.
