The SRE Staff Engineer position is responsible for leading the technical needs across the myPBM organization. The position is accountable to help us drive reliability, scalability, and performance of our systems.As a key member our SRE team you will work with software engineers, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to ensure our services are highly available and resilient. You will help develop automation, monitoring, and incident response strategies to improve our overall system health. The person will work closely with senior leaders to ensure that investments are aligned to the Enterprise strategic goals.*This role is hybrid, we are not considering remote at this time.What you will do:

- System Reliability & Performance: Ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of critical services through proactive monitoring, capacity planning, and performance tuning.
- Observability & Monitoring: Design, implement, and maintain observability solutions using tools such as AppDynamics, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, or Open Telemetry.
- Incident Management: Lead incident response efforts, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and drive post-mortem processes to improve system reliability.
- Automation & Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop automation to reduce manual operational tasks using Terraform, Ansible, or Kubernetes.
- CI/CD & Deployment Pipelines: Work closely with development teams to enhance deployment strategies and improve continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) workflows.
- Cloud & Kubernetes Operations: Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, Docker).
- Security & Compliance: Implement best practices for security, compliance, and cost optimization in cloud environments.
- Collaboration & Mentorship Partner with engineering teams to instill reliability principles and mentor junior SREs.
5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or Software Engineering with a focus on reliability including teh following:
- Experience with observability tools such as AppDynamics, Splunk, Datadog, New Relic, or Prometheus
- Strong coding skills in Python, Go, Bash, or similar languages for automation.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and microservices architectures.
- Proficiency in cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP, with strong knowledge of cloud networking and security.
- Expertise in CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, or Spinnaker.
Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet. - Experience with incident management, SLOs, and error budgets.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for improving reliability and performance.
- Troubleshooting and Guidance: Apply deep technical expertise to troubleshoot issues, provide guidance to the development team, and drive the resolution of technical challenges.
- DevOps Certification a plus
Bachelor's in a STEM field or equivalent experience, Master's in STEM field preferredPay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:$118,450.00 - $260,590.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
