  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to translate business needs into technical requirements under the guidance of the manager and the principal data engineer.
  • Prepares documentation such as process diagrams, source to target mapping, data dictionaries, file specifications, ERDs, wireframes, and pseudocode.
  • Develops datasets, tables, and views in a relational database environment, including development of SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions.
  • Develops automated ETL processes using SQL and Python to ingest data and maintain source tables for reporting and analytics.
  • Performs extensive verification and validation testing to ensure results meet requirements and stakeholder needs.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves system issues.
  • Manages conflicting priorities across multiple projects concurrently.
  • Clearly communicates technical ideas to nontechnical clients in written and verbal form.
  • Provides training and guidance to support teammates.
  • Provides feedback and advice to management to guide decision making.
  • Makes recommendations to improve data management processes, metric definitions, and evaluation methods.
  • Responsible for project commitments to quality and on-time deliverables.
    Designs and conducts analyses using healthcare claims and services data.
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ progressive years of experience as a Data Engineer in an enterprise level environment
  • 3+ years of experience with advanced SQL programming ability in a data warehouse or big data analytics environment (CTEs, subqueries, windowed aggregations, stored procedures, etc.).
  • 3+ years of experience building high quality ETL/ELT pipelines to prepare data for downstream reporting/analytics
  • 1+ years of experience designing and developing ETL/ELT solutions in Google Cloud Platform including Spark on Dataproc, Dataflow, and Data Fusion
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience of Google Cloud Data Engineering experience in health care - care management, PBM, Claims Experience developing and maintaining Airflow DAGs with Python in Cloud Composer
  • Well-versed in data modeling concepts (dimensional/fact, cardinality, normalization, etc.)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking ability.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills within and across teams.
  • 5+ years of experience in BigQuery and SQL including developing data structures to support reporting and analytics.
  • Experience with Teradata, Tableau, Google Cloud SDK is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, as well as communication, time management, attention to detail, and adaptability.
  • Must be comfortable working with remote teams and senior members of business units and product owners.
  • Prior experience mentoring or providing guidance to junior team members is a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare industry standards, regulations, and data privacy concerns is highly desirable.
  • Proven expertise in building robust data pipelines and ETL processes to transform and prepare data for analytics.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively drive projects to completion.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experiencePay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:$83,430.00 - $203,940.00This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
