CVS Health's mandate is to transform health and wellness via products that enable consumer engagement and best-in-class experience.A key part of the responsibility is to build an integrated platform that enables the delivery of products to drive engagement and revolutionize health and wellness. In this role and within this team, you will work on applications and products that are on the forefront of technology. Leveraging your expertise in key technologies & initiatives, you will join an architecture team that is building a cloud platform that will transform the healthcare industry and improve the lives of hundreds of millions of people. In this role, you be a part of a large-scale architecture, product and engineering environment, leading technical architecture initiatives for one or more value streams, Agile Release Trains, or platforms.**We prefer this person be hybrid in Wellesley, but could consider remote for the right candidate.This role requires relationship-building skills, broad and deep technical knowledge, great communication skills, and strategic thinking.

  • Proven leader with the demonstrated ability to create technical solutions in large organizations with complex business requirements and constraints.
  • Strong ability to work with multiple stakeholders, including Business, Product, Engineering and platform team members to influence the application data-flow design and extensible product platform architecture.
  • Takes a disciplined approach to software development and problem-solving; excels at breaking down large problems into multi-step plans in an Agile development environment.
  • A systems problem solver, able to move fluidly between high-level abstract thinking and detailed implementation.
  • Experience with various types of software architectures including Micro Frontend/Microservice architecture and drive large solutions across multiple applications.
  • Possesses broad technology knowledge (cloud, enterprise applications, microservices, data analytics, networking, data storage systems, APIs, large-scale systems).
  • Good understanding of ADA and other regulatory compliances including PCI, PII, and PHI.
  • Excellent collaboration, influencing, negotiation, coaching and coalition-building skills.
  • Excels at building relationships and has top-notch communication and evangelism skills.
  • Passionate about technology with a very high technical aptitude.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Works closely with Product Managers/Owners, Application Architects and Engineering Leads to provide guidance on implementation of reference architecture solutions that demonstrate best in class user experiences.
  • Investigate and come up w/ plans for technology integrations and lead the building of POCs to validate technical hypothesis and provide reference architectural solutions.
  • Develops solutions that are well engineered, flexible, resilient, operable, maintainable, and can be delivered on schedule. Ensures a balance between tactical and strategic technology solutions.
  • Writes white papers, guides, how-to's, and other technical documentation that clearly explains architectural guidelines, vision, promotes technical direction, and serves as a reference for the internal developer community.
  • Excellent collaboration, influencing, evangelization, negotiation, coaching, mentoring, and coalition-building skills. Ability to work with persons at all levels, from the most junior person to VP levels, in all job functions (e.g. product, platform, developers, DevOps).
  • Influence the need to put the user at the center of everything we do, advocate for them, protect their data (a.k.a. security). Ensure that all PII & PHI data is handled in a secure manner and that Architectural solutions account for threat vectors.
  • Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) oversight and development support on future application updates and maintenance.
  • Mentor and coach architects/engineers and seek opportunity to bring in continuous improvements.
  • Ensure all Non-Functional Requirements (e.g., performance, availability and fail-over, scalability, security, etc.) are properly articulated, and work with all parties to guarantee that the software products that are delivered meet these objectives
  • Analyze current architecture and develop opportunities for improvements in alignment with industry best practices
  • Work with internal and external stake holders to arrive at optimal solutions.
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of software industry experience with 4+ years in management of technical, customer facing applications.
  • 5+ Experience leading technical architecture initiatives that impact many value streams.
  • 5+ years designing and developing complex systems; employs a disciplined and rigorous approach.
  • 7+ years experience with requirements analysis, estimation, systems, and application design, and testing.
  • 7+ Experience and proficiency with modern languages, frameworks, and technologies such as Python, RDBMS and/or NoSQL databases etc.
  • 5+ Experience in architecting solutions for any major cloud (GCP preferred) and Microservices.
  • 5+ Experience with modern API patterns and how to build well-designed APIs.
  • 5+ Experience with micro-services architecture and designing RESTful APIs that facilitate a superior UX or simplify systems integration.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience and proficiency with modern languages, frameworks, and technologies such as Node.js, Angular, ReactJS
  • Experience building and operating large scale distributed systems.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to change requirements.
  • Experience with SAFE practices or able to work in SAFE practices and agile methodologies.
  • Experience related to security oriented projects.
  • Exposure to CI/CD and DevOps.
  • Health care industry experience.
  • Excellent communications and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively in visual, verbal, and written form to teams, clients, and leadership.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities with minimal supervision. Self-directed.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely related discipline, or an equivalent combination of formal education and experience.
  • Master's degree is a plus
Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:$144,200.00 - $288,400.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.
