CVS is seeking a senior manager to lead and support key operational projects across the entire network of CVS Distribution. The Operational Excellence Initiatives, Sr. Manager is responsible for being a key member of the team to lead and drive projects and culture to improve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity of the operations. You will be responsible for the continuous improvement and support improvement of the key KPIs at the facilities via a lean foundation, culture, and tools. Some specific responsibilities will be driving read-across of best practices among sites, supporting development of new processes for all sites, flexing into and out of larger scale projects on a temporary need basis, leading technology and infrastructure projects, and tackling other network wide initiatives and kaizens.

This role will work alongside 2 other initiative senior managers to collectively deliver on organizational goals.
You will be expected to travel regionally 30%-45% of which 80% will be self-managed timing/location.
Ideal candidate location aligns with one of the following distribution centers in: LaHabra (CA), Patterson (CA), Conroe (TX), Lumberton (NJ), Woonsocket (RI), Novi (DT), Kansas City (MO), Indianapolis (IN), Orlando (FL), North Augusta (SC), Fredericksburg (VA), or Knoxville (TN).
Responsibilities:
- Safety - Responsible for identifying and improving safety at the site through use of technology, layout, improved ergonomics, and process. Support team on tools to get to root cause and corrective actions.
- Quality - Responsible for helping to deliver world class quality by supporting sites with problem solving techniques to get to root cause and problems are made visible to solve.
- Delivery - This role will be responsible for delivering capacity improvements to the operations by identifying and executing kaizens to remove bottlenecks, increase storage density, and ultimately meet customer demand
- Mentorship/Training - This role will be responsible for growing and shaping the organization in lean techniques as well as enhancing the continuous improvement and lean culture across the organization. Individual will need to demonstrate strong leadership and development capabilities.
- Lean Foundation - This role will be looked at to be the one of the top experts in lean manufacturing and will support the team in mentoring and approaches to meet business objectives. Supporting and leading kaizens, improving effectiveness of tier meetings, establishing/improving standard work, value stream mapping, creating a shared vision, implementing poke-yoke, and drive improvements to the material movement and storage at the site are some examples of work scope.
- Data Engineering - Contribute or lead changes and projects related to data engineering adding data collection where not present. Translate data to information to aid in decision making and problem solving including but not limited to improved traceability, performance dashboards, performance reports, or andon/escalation systems at the site. Will strongly use data to support and drive process and performance management decision with the operations team.
- Project & Change Management - The individual will be responsible for planning and executing multiple projects at the same time and utilize good project management skills by managing risk, understanding critical path and dependencies to meet project goals on time while managing a budget. This individual and kaizen partners must have robust follow through on changes to ensure success. Be able to see opportunities for improvement, put together a financial business case and project plan to initiate the change.
- Automation: Contribute to the requirements specification development of automation improvements to the facility with implementation of key process technologies including but not limited to AMR/AGV, sortation systems, and picking systems, packaging systems, conveyance, and more. Projects may vary from highly custom to catalog items.
- 8+ years' experience in a manufacturing or distribution center environment
- Six Sigma Green Belt or higher
- Experience managing projects and very experienced in change management
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing.
- Experience creating project budgets and financial justifications related to capital expenditure equipment/projects
- WMS, ERP, MES, or LMS systems and database structure experience
- 10+ years' experience in a manufacturing or distribution center environment
- 2+ years running operations (plant manager, senior operations manager, etc)
- 4+ years working directly with lean, process improvement, continuous improvement, or similar
- Six Sigma Black Belt or Higher
- Standards based time and motion study systems such as MOST and MTM
- Experience with Microsoft Azure Snowflake semantic modelling and PowerBI
- Experience with planning / MRP / ordering systems and a foundation of understanding in material replenishment logic
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related engineering/science field
The typical pay range for this role is:
$82,940.00 - $182,549.40
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.
