The Enterprise Data and Machine Learning team developing CVS Health's Modern Data Platform is looking for an exceptional Sr. Technical Writer with data analytics expertise to join our team in one of our locations: Hartford, CT; Wellesley, MA; New York, NY; Chicago, IL, Irving, TX, Woonsocket, RI, Scottsdale, AZ, Falls Church, VA. Remote is also being considered.

CVS Health has a large ecosystem of data that we are charged with bringing to its full potential. The Sr. Technical Writer role is a critical element of the team that we need to develop our full platform capabilities. This role is for someone who loves making sense of and explaining complex data, has very strong writing and communication skills, and a desire to contribute directly to the quality of documentation for our entire data platform.

Responsibilities
  • Proven ability to establish and enforce technical documentation standards, ensuring consistency, clarity, and accuracy across all platform documentation.
  • Experience in developing and implementing content strategies that align with business goals and improve the usability and accessibility of technical information.
  • Proficiency in designing and structuring information architecture to ensure logical flow, ease of navigation, and effective content retrieval for users.
  • Demonstrated ability to create clear, concise, and user-friendly technical documentation, including API documentation, user guides, and system overviews.
  • Experience in integrating technical documentation with content management systems (CMS), including setting up workflows, templates, and version control.
  • Ability to work closely with data product teams to understand their needs, document their work, and provide guidance on best practices for democratizing their data products.
  • Strong focus on the needs of end-users, including ability to gather feedback, understand user requirements, and adapt documentation to improve user experience and satisfaction.
  • Effective project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement of documentation processes and content, including staying current with industry trends and best practices in technical writing and data platform technologies.
  • Experience with data platforms, including data warehousing, data lakes, ETL processes, and data analytics tools, to effectively document and communicate platform capabilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • At least 10 years of proven experience in technical writing, with a strong background in documenting complex data platforms, software systems, or related technologies.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience integrating technical documentation with content management systems (CMS), including managing workflows, templates, and version control.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in developing content strategies and designing information architecture for technical documentation, with a demonstrated ability to improve documentation usability and structure.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience specifically focused on documenting data platforms, including data warehouses, data lakes, ETL processes, or similar technologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience documenting data products
  • Demonstrated experience working on a modern platform documentation
  • Experience with Contentful and/or Adobe Experience Manager
  • Working knowledge of a variety of healthcare data management processes and techniques, including data standards, interoperability, and proper data privacy.
  • Experience with large data, analytics, and technology modernization initiatives.
Education
  • Undergraduate degree required.
  • Graduate degree preferred.
  • Preference given to candidates with degrees and credentials in agile, technical writing, product management, data and analytics related fields.
Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$118,450.00 - $284,280.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.
