CVS Health Digital is looking for an outcome-driven Lead Architect to join our mission to create innovative digital solutions that make health care more accessible, more integrated, and more reliable for more people, both online and in our stores. As Lead Architect, you will be working with design, research, product management and engineering teams and work with other team members to translate business requirements into architecture runways for application development. Leveraging your expertise in key technologies, you will help build products that will bring about the change in the healthcare industry and improve the lives of hundreds of millions of people.

This role requires collaborating with multiple stakeholders, including product management, UX design and engineering teams, to create systems that are scalable, extensible, performant and secure.This position can work remotely or at a CVS location.
  • Lead technical architecture initiatives for multiple value streams (e.g. Agile Release Trains), helping to ensure successful product deliveries.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage common solutions for cross-cutting concerns.
  • Oversee build vs buy evaluations.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to establish and adopt architectural best practices, guidelines, and standards. Evangelize, mentor, and coach all on the same.
  • Understand the product requirement and product vision, evaluate the high level technical feasibility, blocker or risks, lead the solution discussion, translate them into architecture solutions
  • Communicate and present solution to business partners, leadership and engineering team on solution technical blueprint, collaborate to make successful product deliveries
  • Define non-Functional Requirements (e.g. performance, availability and fail-over, scalability, security, etc.). Ensure that these are incorporated in the design and supported in the final product.
  • Guide engineering and other stakeholders on architectural best practices and standards. Evangelize, mentor, and coach all on the same.
  • Oversee the evolution of architectural roadmaps for your domain based on product requirements and long term vision. Balance various aspects like feature development, reducing technical debt and strategic architectural objectives.
  • Collaborate with multiple Agile value stream execution teams in guiding large solutions across multiple planning/execution cycles.
  • Evaluate new technologies and vendors. Guide POCs and discovery work as needed.
  • Provide guidance, direction and mentorship to Architects/Sr. Architects and other collaborators.
Required Qualifications
  • 7-10 years of hands-on consumer facing enterprise level application development experience
    • Of which, 4 Years in architecture, including leading technical architecture initiatives for multiple value streams e.g. Agile Release Train
  • Expert understanding of architectural methodologies and best practices.
  • Experience and proficiency with modern languages, frameworks, and technologies.
  • Significant experience in:
    • Design of server applications, encompassing APIs and micro-services, containers, databases, cloud infrastructures, and cloud services
    • Design and development of complex systems/user interfaces
    • Distributed computing architectures, including race conditions, parallelism, and concurrency control
    • Modern API patterns, including RESTful APIs.
  • Recognized ability to explain highly complex technical architectures, designs and issues clearly and understandably to all constituents.
  • Experience with Jenkins, CI/CD Pipeline, GIT and other DevOps principles.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, influencing, evangelization, negotiation, coaching, mentoring, and coalition-building skills. Ability to work with persons in all job functions (e.g. Product, UX, Developers, QA, DevOps).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with SAFE practices or able to work in SAFE practices and agile methodologies.
  • Good understanding of ADA and other regulatory compliances including PCI, PII and PHI.
  • Experience related to security oriented projects.
Education
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a closely-related discipline, or an equivalent combination of formal education and experience.
Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:$130,295.00 - $260,590.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.
