Position Summary
This individual of the Retail Clinical Pharmacotherapy team is a key contributor within the retail organization. Through strategic, cross-functional partnerships in Operations, Field, Medical Affairs, Marketing, Product Development, Legal, external vendors and more, this colleague will be accountable for supporting, researching, and maintaining several clinical programs and work-streams designed to ensure that the highest standards of pharmaceutical care are delivered to patients across 9,000+ community pharmacy locations. Ensuring high standards of pharmaceutical care will allow the organization to promote quality, cost efficient, evidence-based patient-centered care to payers and patients to drive incremental growth and preserve patient safety. The pharmacist within this role will be accountable for adhering to evidence-based clinical interventions for several types of programs which support revenue generation and risk reduction across various departments. This colleague will manage and execute various editing, reviewing, and research activities across the Enterprise on a daily cadence. This individual will leverage primary literature, tertiary-resources, clinical trial data and published guidelines to create and/or engage in clinical recommendations for the Enterprise, largely the retail business.

This colleague will serve an integral clinical role within the retail business unit within the Enterprise and will engage in enterprise-wide initiative clinical planning. The role of our pharmacists is rapidly evolving, and it will be crucial for this individual to lead, support and launch new clinical services to differentiate our business from our competitors and to ensure the patient care programs/initiatives offered are evidence-based, remain current, and promote patient safety. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for supporting relationships with various external vendors that provide clinical or continuing educational needs for our 90,000+ retail pharmacy colleagues.
Furthermore, this individual will coordinate with the Clinical Quality Evolution Fellowship Program participants to help manage their growth and development throughout the year. This person will also serve on the Fellowship selection committee and help strategize future program enhancements.
Additionally, the clinical pharmacist within the retail clinical space will be responsible for coordinating with the entirety of the retail clinical team to ensure business critical initiatives and priorities receive expedited clinical research, assessment, recommendations, as well as alignment with the various other clinical entities throughout the Enterprise. This individual will support Enterprise business strategy for clinical topics and ensure the Retail Clinical team's recommendations remain accurate, consistent, and current. This pharmacist shall remain acutely aware of the FDA, CDC, and manufacturers' updates and announcements and implement changes in a timely manner to ensure CVS Health can continue to be a healthcare entity that patients and payers can rely upon.
Lastly, this clinical pharmacist will have a prioritized focus supporting marketing teams and colleagues and therefore should have the strong ability to understand clinical evidence standards for OTC products, including vitamins and supplements, in order to reliably substantiate packaging and marketing claims.
Additional responsibilities that this individual will support, strategize and coordinate include (but not limited to):
- Help manage the Retail Clinical Services inbox.
- Help manage clinical vendor relationships.
- Review and maintain the Pharmacists Teach presentations leveraged by both retail and PBM partners.
- Collaborate with other clinical pharmacists on the team to ensure efforts/reviews are coordinated and remain consistent year over year.
- Support clinical business needs (retail and enterprise initiatives).
- Maintaining professional relationship with various leaders/stakeholders throughout the retail business and continuously build awareness of the programs their teams' support.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years' experience demonstrating strong clinical knowledge and ability to make evidence-based recommendations.
- 5+ years' experience demonstrating ability for independent judgment, initiative, and confidence to share expert opinions.
- 5+ years of full-time work experience in a retail and/or corporate environment
- 5+ years' experience building high-performing teams.
- 5+ years' experience engaging and inspiring teams to achieve both short-term, and long-term goals
- 5+ years' experience working in a highly matrixed organization.
- 5+ years' experience influencing without authority
- Demonstrated growth mindset and willingness to learn and accept feedback

- Expertise leveraging MS Office Suite, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint capabilities
- Travel requirements - up to 25% travel expected, and as required by the business

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$110,467.50 - $237,930.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
