Leads and oversees the West and Central regions , setting strategic underwriting objectives and driving effective underwriting processes. Additionally, this role will support the Rating Environment team, HBS Underwriting team and Project Management teams. Collaborates with senior leadership to develop underwriting guidelines, risk management strategies, and pricing policies. Analyzes underwriting performance metrics, implements process improvements, and provides guidance on complex underwriting cases. Participates in training and mentoring underwriters, resolving escalated issues, and representing the organization in underwriting decisions with external stakeholders.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Develops and executes the long-term underwriting strategy for the organization, aligned with business objectives, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements.
- Defines underwriting goals, priorities, and initiatives to support profitable growth and risk management.
- Leads the development of underwriting guidelines and policies that align with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and the company's risk parameters.
- Analyzes factors such as claims data, medical history, demographics, and utilization patterns to determine risk and progress profiles and pricing strategies.
- Directs processes to utilize data analytics tools and techniques to extract insights and provide recommendations for optimizing underwriting processes and outcomes.
- Collaborates with internal stakeholders, including senior leadership, finance teams, product development, and claims departments, to ensure alignment and effective cross-functional collaboration.
- Advises management on current industry regulations, compliance standards, and changes in healthcare laws that may impact underwriting practices.
- Establishes a clear definition of roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations for each team member, documenting progress into the company database for records integrity.
- Develops and mentors team members to enhance their skills and career growth by providing leadership, guidance, and support to the team.

The typical pay range for this role is:$157,800.00 - $363,936.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
