We are looking for a Manager, Actuarial to support the Middle Market Fully Insured Actuarial team. This role will primarily support the pricing of 100-300 size segment. You will develop the pricing for this segment nationally and for each market on quarterly basis. You will collaborate with market actuaries and market underwriting partners in strategizing to optimize persistency and margin for this business. You will also be responsible for executing, managing and tracking strategic initiatives for this segment. In addition, this role will support the California market on all middle market business and will collaborate with California Finance, Product, and Underwriting partners. What you will do

  • Conducts risk assessments and analyzes data related to insurance policies, pension plans, or other financial products to evaluate potential risks and their financial implications.
  • Leads the development of pricing models using customer demographics, claims experience, and regulatory data.
  • Contributes to the design and development of new financial products or modifications to existing financial products.
  • Estimates future financial obligations and ensures adequate reserves are in place to cover potential liabilities.
  • Oversees the forecasting process and uses actuarial models to project future cash flows and assess the financial stability of the company.
  • Stays up to date with applicable laws and regulations to ensure actuarial practices align with industry standards and regulatory expectations.
  • Leads a team of actuaries and actuarial analysts by providing guidance, setting objectives, and overseeing the completion of work products.
  • Oversees the development and maintenance of actuarial models and tools to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to industry best practices.
  • Communicates complex concepts to senior management, clients, or regulatory bodies.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree along with 3+ years prior experience
  • Prior actuarial exams passed (or ASA)
  • Prior healthcare industry knowledge
  • Strong consultative and analytical skills, as well as the ability to collaborate within/outside of the Actuarial Department
  • Typically works independently and manages projects.
  • Advanced skills in Excel. Familiar with SQL. Ability to learn new technologies.

  • Demonstrates critical thinking and expresses ideas clearly, concisely, and logically from a cross functional perspective.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and multiple projects concurrently.
  • Demonstrates initiative, innovation, and leadership in achieving results.
  • Prior experience in pricing or finance related role

The typical pay range for this role is:$92,700.00 - $222,480.00This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
