DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Project Manager VAVE to join our team specializing in Engineering in Troy, MI .

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways :

  • Identifying Cost Reduction Opportunities : Utilize engineering techniques and data to find Value Added/Value Engineering (VAVE) opportunities in current products.
  • Leading Idea Generation : Plan, organize, and lead VAVE idea generation sessions, focusing on technical and engineering optimization for cost savings.
  • Managing Prioritization : Oversee the prioritization of ideas from concept to realization, ensuring the most impactful ideas are pursued.
  • Driving Project Management : Manage VAVE projects from the initial idea stage to project approval, developing preliminary business cases and timelines.
  • Achieving Cross-Functional Buy-In : Secure buy-in from various departments to ensure successful implementation of VAVE projects.
  • Optimizing Technical Efforts : Focus on technical and engineering optimization efforts to achieve significant cost savings.
  • Developing Business Cases : Create preliminary business cases to justify VAVE projects and align them with organizational goals.
  • Ensuring Project Success : Lead projects through systematic investigation and execution, ensuring they meet cost reduction and efficiency targets.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Strategic Planning and Execution : Develop and implement a disciplined DMAIC wave approach to achieve target savings for the product.
  • Engineering Optimization : Generate innovative ideas to reduce cost and weight of production parts while maintaining performance and quality metrics.
  • Concept Design Development : Create concept designs that meet performance expectations and offer cost reduction opportunities with strong business cases.
  • Leadership in VAVE Initiatives : Lead key activities for the Brake Business Unit, driving VAVE team initiatives and ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Business Case and Risk Management : Develop preliminary business cases, risk mitigation plans, implementation plans, and timelines to support technical changes and present program status to stakeholders.
  • Project Management : Oversee idea generation, prioritization, concept development, feasibility analysis, and business case creation for VAVE projects.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work closely with Product Management, Engineering, and other departments to meet new product cost targets and evaluate part number rationalization strategies.
  • Technical Proficiency : Perform necessary engineering calculations, support cost analysis, and lead Linear Price Performance (LPP) analysis with cross-functional teams.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

  • College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required.
  • Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations .

Experience:

  • Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making. Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred.

Additional Information/Qualifications

  • Required to be on site at least 2 days a week in CDBS location in Troy, MI
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Automotive or Industrial Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years mechanical/automotive engineering experience focusing on Brakes and Wheel end is a must.
  • Experience with pneumatic braking systems preferred.
  • Experience in leading technical projects and programs and conversant with program management.
  • Required design experience with brake and wheel-end components like caliper, spider, torque plate, carrier and knowledge of castings, forgings and stampings in general.
  • Pro-E/Creo or other 3D Modeling experience.
  • Experienced with GD&T and tolerance stack up analysis.
