DESCRIPTION

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate product, system, and technology issues related to thermal and fluid sciences; understand causal mechanisms, recommend appropriate action, and document findings with guidance from senior team members.
  • Apply and support improvements in engineering processes such as Pre Program Planning (PPP), Product Preceding Technology (PPT), Value Package Introduction (VPI), and Value Package Change (VPC), along with related tools like GT-Suite, Boost, Fluent, Converge, and more.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, such as technical managers, project leaders, engineers, and supplier partners, to provide input for further analysis, design optimization, feasibility studies, and architecture definition.
  • Own the resolution of moderately complex problems related to components, systems, and subsystems, ensuring the success of project milestones.
  • Perform analysis, testing, and communication with stakeholders to support the successful progression of projects.
  • Contribute to the improvement of systems and processes, while continuing to build expertise in technology and product knowledge.
  • Manage problem resolution for components and systems with increasing complexity as experience grows.
  • Contribute to team goals and demonstrate influence within the work group.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Sciences, or a related field.

Competencies:

  • Applies Principles of Fluid Dynamics and Heat Transfer: Understands and predicts the performance of fluid and thermal systems using quantitative and intuitive knowledge of thermal energy transfer, fluid flow, and modeling/experimental tools.
  • Applies Principles of Thermodynamics and Energy Conversion Systems: Understands and predicts the performance of energy conversion systems, such as IC engines, gas turbines, fuel cells, and batteries, using thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, modeling tools, and experimental tools.
  • Product Failure Mode Avoidance: Identifies potential product failure modes and interfaces to improve the reliability of products by analyzing functional requirements and noise factors.
  • Product Function Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis: Uses computational tools to predict product functionality and impacts product design decisions at various levels of system, subsystem, and component requirements.
  • Product Problem Solving: Utilizes a robust process for solving product issues, focusing on customer protection, data-driven solutions, and identifying root causes to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Systems Thinking: Defines the system and identifies interactions, boundaries, and life cycle to understand behavior, predict changes, and devise solutions to achieve desired results.
  • Collaborates: Works well with others to meet shared objectives and encourages teamwork across departments.
  • Communicates Effectively: Develops and delivers clear, effective communication to diverse audiences, ensuring understanding of technical needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Essential Software Skills:
  • Proficiency in ANSYS Fluent .
  • Experience with Star CCM and GT-Suite .
  • Basic proficiency in KULI simulation tools.
  • Desirable Software Skills:
  • Simulation experience with Simerics .
  • Proficiency in MATLAB .
  • Familiarity with ModeFrontier for automation.
  • Basic knowledge of Python .
  • Understanding of optimisation of flow management and two-phase fluid flow .
  • Additional Knowledge:
  • Familiarity with Vent simulation , AutoDesk Mold Flow Simulation , and ventilation analysis will be an added advantage.

Key Skills and Experience Needed for the Role:

  • Strong understanding of CFD theory , including the ability to perform thermal and pressure drop analysis simulations.
  • Expertise in 1D CFD modeling and simulation and proficiency with simulation tools such as GT-Suite and KULI .
  • Hands-on experience in thermal and fluid sciences, with a focus on simulations and experimental validation.
  • Solid experience in thermal analysis , ventilation systems , and flow management optimizations .
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis and contribute to effective product problem-solving.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills for working across multidisciplinary teams.

Experience:

  • 5-6 years of experience in thermal and fluid sciences, with a strong emphasis on CFD, simulation, and analysis.
