DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented School To Work - Engineering Student to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Cummins Inc. facility in Troy, MI.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Supporting Algorithm Development : Assisting the team in software algorithm development and verification in a software-in-loop environment will enhance the accuracy and efficiency of software solutions.
- Designing Test Harnesses : Developing test harnesses and electronic module designs for bench validation will ensure robust and reliable testing processes.
- Performing Bench Validation : Executing bench validation tasks based on inputs from Lead Engineers will help verify the functionality and performance of electronic modules.
- Managing Laboratory Inventory : Overseeing laboratory inventory, assembly, and coordinating testing with Lead Engineers will ensure that all necessary resources are available and organized for efficient testing.
- Documenting Requirements and Verification : Assisting the team in requirements and verification/validation reporting and documentation will ensure that all processes are well-documented and compliant with standards.
- Collaborating with Engineers : Working closely with Lead Engineers to perform validation tasks and manage testing will foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Supporting Career Development : Working with your manager to define and manage career development tasks will help you grow professionally and align your development with the organization's goals.
- Enhancing Team Efficiency : By contributing to various aspects of the development and validation process, you will help streamline operations and improve overall team efficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Understand Electro-Mechanical and Electro-Pneumatic Systems : Have a solid understanding of these systems to effectively contribute to the development and validation processes.
- Work in a Mechatronics Laboratory : Be comfortable working in a mechatronics lab environment, utilizing your hands-on experience with laboratory equipment.
- Build Prototype Harnesses : Have prior experience in building prototype electrical/electronic harnesses, which will be crucial for bench validation tasks.
- Use Software Development Tools : Possess working knowledge of software development toolchains such as C/C++, Python, and MATLAB/Simulink to support algorithm development and verification.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams : Demonstrate outstanding interpersonal and relationship skills to effectively collaborate with various teams and stakeholders.
- Solve Problems Efficiently : Apply excellent problem-solving skills to address challenges and improve processes within the lab and development environment.
- Communicate Effectively : Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey ideas clearly and ensure smooth coordination with team members and lead engineers.
- Manage Career Development : Work with your manager to define and manage career development tasks, ensuring continuous growth and alignment with organizational goals.
Education/Experience:
- Must be pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering or related field
- Maintain Cumulative GPA or 3.0 or higher
QUALIFICATIONS
Additional Information:
This position will be part of the Advanced Engineering & Innovation Group within the Cummins Drivetrain & Braking System (CDBS) division. As a Student, your primary focus will be on supporting CDBS mechatronics group in design, development, and optimization of mechatronics systems application software in compliance with reliability and safety specifications.
