We are looking for a talented Product Systems Design Engineering Product Specialist to join our Accelera team in Mississauga, Ont.
Job Summary:
This product focused position applies specialized knowledge of engineering principles and design practices to create optimized design concepts and mechanical design specifications considering application, cost, weight, performance, reliability, durability, manufacturing, assembly, and serviceability. This role effectively communicates the capability of a design concept to meet cross-functional requirements including assessment of alternative and competitive design concepts, and works effectively across cross-functional disciplines to develop corporate and customer requirements including those required to resolve product issues.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Lead cross-functional negotiations to ensure comprehensive design reviews for PPT, VPI, or VPCR teams.
- Drive design decisions for component and subsystem concepts, optimizing for customer impact.
- Execute critical design processes and utilize tools like iDFMEA, DVA, GD&T, CREO, and ANSYS Workbench for high-quality design refinement.
- Independently manage projects with significant business impact and ambiguity, ensuring accountability.
- Implement and improve work processes , contributing to both established and emerging systems.
- Coordinate and mentor technicians and student employees, facilitating knowledge transfer to junior engineers.
- Provide technical guidance to influence project direction and develop critical competencies.
- Act as a specialist within your discipline, offering expertise and leadership to your immediate team
RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Cross-Functional Design Integration : Translate stakeholder requirements into virtual designs and communicate design capabilities through cross-functional reviews.
- Mechanical Design Modeling and Analysis : Create CAD models to represent system design concepts and enable system-level analyses like DVA and FEA.
- Mechanical Design of Mechanical Systems : Apply in-depth knowledge of mechanical systems to create innovative designs that meet lifecycle and customer requirements.
- Product Function Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis : Use computational tools to predict and impact product function at various system levels.
- Product Platform Planning and Architecting : Develop holistic product platforms with architectural variants, performing trade-off analysis to align with market plans.
- Product Problem Solving : Solve product issues using data-driven processes, identifying root causes and implementing robust solutions.
- System Requirements Engineering : Translate stakeholder needs into verifiable requirements, track their status, and assess the impact of changes throughout the lifecycle.
- Building Networks and Communication : Build effective relationships and deliver clear, audience-specific communications to support decision-making and drive results.
Education, Licenses, Certifications:
College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required.
Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making. Knowledge of MS Office and CREO tools is preferred.
