DESCRIPTION
This entry-level/early career professional position focuses on applying engineering principles and design practices to create optimized design concepts and mechanical design specifications. The role includes a thorough understanding of application, cost, weight, performance, reliability, durability, manufacturing, assembly, and serviceability, ensuring alignment with corporate and customer requirements. The Product Systems Design Engineer effectively communicates design concepts, evaluates alternatives, and supports cross-functional disciplines in product development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate issues raised by the Value Package Introduction (VPI) program or field teams, analyze causes, and recommend actions to resolve design issues with guidance from experienced team members.
- Apply critical processes such as Critical Design Decisions, System Design, and tools like iDFMEA, DVA, GD&T, CREO, ANSYS Workbench to enable quality component and subsystem design decisions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional technical experts to communicate design intent during Design Reviews for Product Preceding Technology (PPT), Value Package Introduction (VPI), or Value Package Change Request (VPCR) initiatives.
- Support design decision-making on concept selection, optimization, and creation of design specifications to meet customer requirements.
- Manage problem resolution for moderately complex components, subsystems, or services, with increasing technical complexity over time.
- Provide independent execution of work processes while continuously improving product and process knowledge.
- Contribute to team goals, exhibit leadership within work groups, and continuously develop key competencies essential for role success.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Experience:
- Required Knowledge/Skills:
- Proficiency in Creo modeling and drawing, including Stack study.
- Knowledge or work experience with commercial vehicle brake systems.
- Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Creo Simulation is desirable but not compulsory.
- Familiarity with MS Office tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills in product design and development environments.
- Experience:
- 2-5 Years of experience in commercial Vehicles and designing background.
- Experience working in cross-functional teams and understanding system-level design requirements.
Competencies:
- Cross-Functional Design Integration: Translate stakeholder requirements into designs, ensuring alignment across teams through design reviews.
- Mechanical Design Modeling and Analysis: Use CAD models to represent system-level design concepts and conduct analyses (e.g., Dimensional Variation Analysis).
- Mechanical Design of Systems: Apply in-depth knowledge of mechanical systems to design for robust operation in various environments.
- Product Problem Solving: Use data-driven approaches to solve product issues, ensuring long-term reliability and customer satisfaction.
- System Requirements Engineering: Translate stakeholder needs into verifiable requirements and manage their lifecycle across project scopes.

QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant STEM field e.g., Mechanical Engineering/Automobile Engineering/Industrial Engineering
- Licenses/Certifications: Relevant engineering certifications or coursework would be beneficial but are not mandatory.
