DESCRIPTION

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Ensure Model and Drawing Quality : Maintain high standards for models and drawings, ensuring they meet all necessary specifications and quality benchmarks.
  • Create and Maintain Product Specifications : Utilize Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to develop and uphold precise product specifications.
  • Utilize CAD Data Management Tools : Manage configuration control and maintain security using advanced CAD data management tools.
  • Adhere to Standards : Ensure compliance with company, industry, national, and international standards in all design and engineering processes.
  • Mentor and Train : Guide and support less experienced Product Designers, sharing your expertise and fostering their development.
  • Lead Design Reviews : Participate in and lead Drawing Quality Reviews and Design Reviews, ensuring thorough evaluation and improvement of designs.
  • Create Concept Models : Collaborate with engineering teams to generate innovative concept models and designs.
  • Analyze and Improve Designs : Use various design tools to analyze the adequacy of designs and create Master CAD Models for part tooling.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Proficiency in Mechanical Design Modeling and Analysis : Ability to create CAD models that meet Cummins' standards and perform system-level analyses like Dimensional Variation Analysis and Finite Element Analysis.
  • In-depth Understanding of Mechanical Systems : Knowledge to design innovative and robust mechanical systems that meet customer expectations across all lifecycle stages and operating environments.
  • Expertise in Mechanical Design Specification : Skill in creating detailed specifications, including solid models and engineering bill of materials, that comply with various standards and effectively communicate design intent.
  • Product Configuration and Change Management Skills : Capability to manage product artifacts, track and control changes, and maintain the integrity of product baselines from concept to obsolescence.
  • Effective Communication : Ability to develop and deliver clear, multi-mode communications tailored to different audiences' needs.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience in an appropriate STEM field is required.

Regionally applicable certification or two year Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study may be required.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

The Project Manager has complete ownership of the project from inception through implementation. They manage this through cross functional meetings with engineering, suppliers, materials, purchasing, plant support, and external contractors.

Responsible for concept development and cross functional review. Will be required to assemble project timelines, quotes and resource constraints to feed various approval processes. Once Approved, responsible for Quote/RFA creation, contractor interface, spend timeline and management updates through completion.

Project scopes include, but not limited to, emissions capacity expansion, facilities interfaces (fuel, HVAC, Combustion air, ventilation systems, process and cooling water systems, and general efficiency and continuous improvement projects. Will require mechanical and electrical system aptitude to effectively manage complex system level projects and resources.

Project Manager also acts as Engine Test Lab liaison for plant facilities and production test trades.

Daily core hours for this position are 8:00AM to 2:00PM, with remaining hours flexible to individual and team needs. Must be willing to work overtime, or flex time as necessary, to meet commitments.
