DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Product Compliance and Regulatory Engineer candidates to join our team specializing in Product Compliance and Regulatory Affairs for our Corporate Business at one of our Cummins Inc. locations, or if applicable, your remote home office, within the United States

In this early career role as a Product Compliance & Regulatory Engineer you will play a vital role to ensure product and cross-business integration for current and future products within a given business unit or corporate area robustly meets the intent of regulations, codes, and standards necessary for entering commerce.

As a Product Compliance & Regulatory Engineer you will:

  • Work cross-functionally to ensure compliance with Cummins internal requirements, applicable health, safety and environmental regulations and industry standards, including monitoring compliance with legislative and regulatory matters that may impact the business in the U.S., country of assignment, or international region.
  • Be a point of coordination, solution strategy and decision making between product engineers, product line engineers, customer teams, purchasing, suppliers and manufacturing.
  • Be involved in technically based work across many steps in the product life cycle.
  • Actively engage in product problem solving and product failure mode avoidance
  • Plan and prioritize work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals.
  • Review and interpret legislative text to compare/contrast and summarize it in context of business needs.

You will make an impact by:

  • Leveraging topics and trends related to air, exhaust, water, waste, sustainability, safety, and/or materials; uses data to solve problems, understand business impact, protect, and improve the environment while also making a positive impact in human health and well-being.
  • Developing an understanding of the intent of the codes, standards, and regulations to ensure that Cummins plans for, executes, and complies with global requirements.
  • Analyzing technical and legal documents and working with subject matter experts to enable interpretation of content resulting in clear definition of requirements to the business.
  • Identifying and analyzing the interfaces and interactions across system boundaries by specifying the requirements and limits to ensure that the product meets requirements and creating an integration plan, including identification of method and timing for each activity to make it easier to find, isolate, diagnose, and correct.
  • Using appropriate methods and tools to translate stakeholder needs into verifiable requirements to which designs are developed, tracking the status of requirements throughout the system lifecycle, assessing the impact of changes to system requirements, and maintaining information linkages to requirements.
  • Identifying compliance issues, developing, and documenting mitigation plans with the help of experienced team members that consider Cummins' culture to address identified issues to ensure compliance and reduce risks for Cummins and its shareholders.
  • Evaluating risk through identification and risk assessment techniques to analyze and prioritize risk, enabling a selection of control measures that reduce risk as low as reasonably practicable.
  • Documenting information based on knowledge gained as part of technical function activities; communicate to stakeholders with the goal of enabling improved technical productivity and effective knowledge transfer to others who were not originally part of the initial learning.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • A College, University, or equivalent Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field.
  • A postgraduate (Master's or PhD) degree may be required for select Product Compliance & Regulatory Engineer roles.
  • Effective communication skills along with strengths in logic, planning and making timely decisions.
  • Good decision-making skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Office tools or equivalents, especially Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

QUALIFICATIONS

Degree Programs Considered: Bachelor's, Master's, PhD

Major Programs Typically Considered: All Engineering Majors

2024 Salary Ranges by Degree Level:

  • Bachelor's - $64,800 - $97,200
  • Master's - $76,000 - $114,000
  • PhD - $84,800 - $127,200

Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate's qualifications and experience, where appropriate.

Cummins Full Time Requirements:

  • College, university, or equivalent technical experience required
  • Minimum 2.5 or above GPA required
  • Must be able to complete 40 hours per week
  • 0-2 years in a position/internship relating to your field of study preferred

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage, and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.
