DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Packaging Engineer to join our team specializing in Logistics in Charlotte/Asheville, NC.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Packaging Development : Support the development and requirements for packaging under the new product introduction process, ensuring effective and efficient packaging solutions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work with customers and suppliers to specify design requirements for expendable and returnable packaging, enhancing the overall supply chain.
  • Continuous Improvement : Identify and deliver improvements to current product packaging to enhance quality, reduce costs, and minimize material handling and waste disposal.
  • Guideline Development : Develop site-specific packaging guidelines in alignment with Cummins Global Packaging Standards, considering safety, storage, and equipment constraints.
  • Compliance Assurance : Review and approve supplier Packaging Data Sheets to ensure compliance with Cummins Global Packaging Standards and regulatory requirements like ISPM15.
  • Project Planning : Plan and prioritize projects to drive timely results that align with organizational goals, ensuring efficient project execution.
  • Cost-Based Analysis : Apply business acumen in cost-based analysis and decision-making to optimize packaging solutions and support sustainable practices.
  • Sustainable Solutions : Deliver environmentally sustainable packaging solutions, focusing on vendor relations, material specifications, and internal functional group requirements.

  • Packaging Distribution Conditions : Recognize environmental conditions and dynamic forces in supply chains to ensure product protection.
  • Packaging Material Knowledge : Understand the benefits and characteristics of different packaging materials to select the best options for product protection, cost, and environmental impact.
  • Packaging Testing : Evaluate performance validation tests and interpret reports to ensure packaging meets transit and handling conditions.
  • Returnable Packaging Management : Develop and manage returnable packaging programs to save on material and transportation costs while reducing waste.
  • Problem Solving : Use systematic analysis and industry-standard methodologies to solve problems, implement robust solutions, and prevent recurrence.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or related discipline is required.
  • Packaging Engineering or Packaging Science degree is highly preferred.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

  • Internship or equivalent experience in packaging-related field

Additional Qualifications/Skills:

  • Must be familiar with Industrial Packaging
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Need to be independent self-starter who can work with minimum supervision.
  • Must be able to navigate through multiple levels of management.
