DESCRIPTION
Key Responsibilities:
Managerial (30%):
- Drive strategy for EPR, ESG, VPI/VPC, and cost optimization.
- Manage cross-functional project teams, planning, organizing, and executing complex projects across multiple sites and stakeholders (Global/Domestic).
- Lead sustainability initiatives and execute packaging sustainability projects to meet environmental goals and reduce material usage, enabling reuse and recycling.
- Develop packaging specifications and validate technical drawings to clearly identify all aspects required to define the package.
- Ensure compliance with packaging technology, materials, design principles, testing methods, regulations, and standards.
- Utilize proficiency in Microsoft tools, design software tools, and Power BI for strong analytics.
- General Packaging (70%):
- Support packaging development and requirements under the new product introduction process.
- Work cross-functionally and with customers and suppliers to specify design requirements for expendable and returnable packaging and containers for finished products and raw material components.
- Support continuous improvement in the supply chain, improving total cost and/or customer/supplier quality.
- Identify and deliver improvements to packaging of current products to improve quality and reduce total cost, material handling, and waste disposal.
- Develop site-specific packaging guidelines in alignment with Cummins Global Packaging Standards while considering safety, storage, line side presentation needs, and equipment constraints.
- Review and approve supplier Packaging Data Sheets for compliance with Cummins Global Packaging Standards.
- Ensure ISPM15 and other regulatory requirements on international shipments are met for inbound and outbound shipments.
- Plan and prioritize projects to drive timely results aligned with organizational goals.
- Apply business acumen in cost-based analysis and decision-making.
- Communication skills-working with CFT teams, Project management skills, customers, and suppliers etc.
- Packaging designing skills-Software tools. (CAD/Solid work/Windchill etc.), creating BOM, Packaging optimization etc.
- Analytical and quantitative skills-BI-Dashboard, PPT, Excel and AI, PFEP, EMF, 5' S, SPC, 6 sigma, RCA-Root cause analysis, CAPA, Packaging Automation -Industry 4.0, logistics, and lead time management etc.
- Packaging material knowledge-Corrugation/Wood/Steel/Preservation VCI & Packaging etc.
- Legal Compliance- Know-how of ESG/EPR/Restricted material items etc.
- Testing's knowledge -ISTA /ASTM standards/ ISPM -1PPC requirements, OSHA
- Vendor assessment -Supplier assessment skills to understand technology, quality, capacities, and risk management.
- RFQ- Creating Technical RFQ-Packaging specs redesign/documentations/SLA/SOW
- Safety & Ergonomics- Analysis of packaging with relate to ergo and safety standards.
- Cost-Should costing models for packaging material corrugation-wood-steel-consumables /TCO and Returnable packaging analysis.
- Returnable packaging -Sustainability go green, LCA analysis GHG, knowledge of plastic and metal returnable and tracking management.
- Leadership skills-Team management and delivering superior results, strategy and goal tree building know how.

Education:
- Engineering/MBA with post-graduation in packaging, certified packaging professional

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
- 6 to 7 years of experience in packaging engineering.
- Preferable experience in automotive manufacturing.
- Internship or equivalent experience in a packaging-related field.
