DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Marine Application Engineer to join our team specializing in Engineering for Cummins, Inc. in Grand Rapids, MI.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Investigate and Resolve Issues : Investigate integration and installation problems, understand causal mechanisms, recommend actions, and document results with guidance from experienced team members.
  • Support Process Improvement : Apply and support the improvement of processes like Installation Quality Assurance, OEM integration, and product selection using tools such as Advisor, COLS, and GCE.
  • Collaborate with Experts : Obtain input and negotiate with Subject Matter Experts and VPI Teams to deliver product data and installation requirements to Application Engineers and OEMs.
  • Make Informed Decisions : Make decisions on product selection, design, and integration that impact OEM machine performance, optimization, and quality, using in-depth product and market knowledge.
  • Build Customer Relationships : Develop strong working relationships with customer technical counterparts to deliver product technical information, manage specifications, communicate changes, resolve issues, and facilitate requests.
  • Translate Customer Needs : Convert customer needs and "voice of the customer" into functional product requirements, and advocate for customers during new product development, design reviews, and change processes.
  • Ensure Correct Application : Ensure products are applied and installed correctly to meet customer system requirements and environments, validating prototype performance and installation quality.
  • Own Problem Resolution : Own problem resolution for moderately complex components, products, systems, or services, with increasing technical complexity and ambiguity as experience is gained.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Product Application Support - Develop and manage technical content to ensure that all product information is accurate, complete, and available in a timely manner. This will support both customers and the business.se your cross-system knowledge and industry experience to develop innovative tools and define installation requirements that facilitate successful design and integration.
  • Product Problem Solving - Use a structured process to solve product problems, ensuring that the customer is protected throughout.Identify the root causes of problems and implement robust, data-based solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Product Selection - Help customers choose the best products for their needs by optimizing product specifications and ensuring ease of installation.Represent product features and benefits in terms that customers can easily understand, and ensure products are not misapplied by using technical information systems.
  • System Requirements Engineering - Use appropriate methods and tools to translate stakeholder needs into verifiable requirements.Track the status of requirements throughout the system lifecycle, assess the impact of changes, and maintain information linkages to related artifacts.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

  • College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required.
  • Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
  • Entry level/Early career professional. Preferred candidates would have relevant experience working in either a temporary student employment environment (intern, co-op, or other extracurricular team activities) or as an early career professional in a relevant technical discipline area. Knowledge of MS Office tools is also preferred

Successful candidate will support the CSSNA Northern Sales Team in the Great Lakes and Inland Waterways Region of the United States. Candidate must be local to the region for frequent customer visits for day and overnight trips: 20-40% travel. Organization, teamwork, good written and oral communication are needed to be effective in the role. Electrical and controls capability desired. The Marine market requires a team player who is flexible and adaptable to a variety of technical support needs and priorities. Relocation is not offered.

Compensation

Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate's qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
