DESCRIPTION
Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Process Lead is responsible for leading specific projects to create and implement all aspects of manufacturing processes, ensuring that safety requirements, manufacturing goals, business goals, and product specifications are met. This role requires experience with 2D and 3D CAD systems, such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks, as well as proficiency in CNC programming and setup. The Manufacturing Process Lead must possess good communication skills and have experience writing work instructions for processes. By applying advanced knowledge of manufacturing principles and practices, the Manufacturing Process Lead improves equipment and processes, utilizes continuous improvement tools, and adheres to Cummins standards to drive efficiency and quality in manufacturing operations.

- Lead the work for specific projects to create and implement all aspects of manufacturing processes.

- Lead the development of manufacturing standards and working methods.
- Communicate with and influence key external stakeholders, business leaders, and functional members.

Equipment/Capital Procurement: Selects and procures manufacturing equipment that meets Cummins' specifications and project or program needs. Evaluates equipment options based on performance, cost, and compatibility with existing processes, ensuring optimal investment in capital resources.
Manufacturing Analysis Led Design: Utilizes digital tools to model and simulate manufacturing processes, equipment, and performance. Makes data-driven decisions to implement changes and drive continuous improvements, enhancing process efficiency and product quality.
Manufacturing Knowledge: Demonstrates a deep understanding of manufacturing principles and practices. Effectively implements changes in processes, equipment, and applications to meet functional needs and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Process Documentation: Produces comprehensive and clear manufacturing procedures in the correct sequence. Ensures that all approved stakeholders follow these procedures to maintain continuity and standardization in manufacturing processes.
Tool and Fixture Design: Selects and designs work-piece-holding devices that effectively secure parts and products during manufacturing processes. Ensures that these devices meet functional requirements and contribute to the efficiency and quality of production.

Problem Solving: Utilizes systematic analysis processes and industry-standard methodologies to solve problems effectively. Mentors others in problem-solving techniques, ensuring traceability, identifying root causes, and implementing robust, data-based solutions to prevent recurrence.
Workstation Design: Designs operator workstations that prioritize safety, health, and ergonomics. Balances cost, quality, and delivery considerations to create efficient and effective work environments that support employee well-being and productivity.
Education, Licenses, Certifications:
College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
Intermediate level of relevant work experience required.
