DESCRIPTION

Leads the planning, designing, purchasing, and implementation of changes to the manufacturing equipment and systems while leading and co-leading teams. This role is responsible for developing manufacturing processes, improving current systems, and ensuring alignment with Cummins standards and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead projects to create and implement all aspects of manufacturing processes, ensuring alignment with safety requirements, manufacturing goals, business goals, and product specifications.
  • Develop manufacturing processes for Connecting ROD manufacturing lines, including tooling and cycle time improvements.
  • Participate in equipment selection, Design Approval Process (DAP), specification finalization, trials, and final commissioning at the plant.
  • Manage the PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) for equipment/line commissioning.
  • Enhance layout and material flow efficiency.
  • Ensure timely CAPEx and cash flow management.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Analyze and improve current line OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), providing on-site solutions and improvements.
  • Conduct meetings and facilitate communication with site operations, ME (Manufacturing Engineering), Quality, and supplier teams.
  • Track and document project progress to ensure completion of all NBS (New Business Startup) project steps.
  • Perform supplier capacity mapping and create end-to-end Value Stream Mapping (VSM) for new lines.
  • Support new manufacturing lines with IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) and Industry 4.0 requirements.
  • Apply continuous improvement tools and methodologies to manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align objectives and deliverables.
  • Coach and mentor team members, maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Intermediate level of relevant work experience.

  • Manufacturing Analysis Led Design : Uses digital tools to model and simulate manufacturing processes and drive improvements.
  • Manufacturing Knowledge : Implements process, equipment, and application changes to meet functional needs.
  • Process Documentation : Produces detailed manufacturing procedures to standardize processes.
  • Tool and Fixture Design : Selects and designs workpiece-holding devices for effective manufacturing operations.
  • Values Differences : Appreciates and leverages diverse perspectives and cultures.
  • Continuous Process Improvement : Identifies and implements improvements to reduce waste and enhance quality.
  • Ergonomics Process and Workplace Design : Designs ergonomic processes and workstations in alignment with Cummins' guidelines.
  • Problem Solving : Uses systematic analysis to address and resolve issues effectively, mentoring others when required.
  • Workstation Design : Designs operator workstations for safety, health, and efficiency while considering cost, quality, and delivery.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all project tracking and documentation is maintained accurately for audits and reviews.
  • Support innovation in manufacturing processes by integrating Cummins Manufacturing System and advanced Industry 4.0 technologies.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or a related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
