DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Manufacturing Engineer to join our Seymour Engine Plant Assembly Team on-site in Seymour IN.

This position requires hands-on experience with both new and seasoned machinery, including PLCs, DC, pneumatic, and manual torque tooling as well as other automated and non automated machinery. The role demands dynamic project support across various lines and areas, with expertise in powered DC torque tooling and PLC troubleshooting. A self-starter attitude is essential for identifying, prioritizing, and managing projects independently. Additionally, this position supervises an hourly advance manufacturing associate (AMA) who supports the same area and initiatives.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Ensures Compliance and Efficiency : By assisting in creating and implementing manufacturing processes, the role ensures that safety requirements, manufacturing goals, business goals, and product specifications are met.
  • Enhances Equipment and Processes : Applying knowledge of manufacturing principles helps improve the efficiency and effectiveness of manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Develops Standards and Methods : Using continuous improvement tools to develop manufacturing standards and working methods ensures ongoing enhancements and consistency in operations.
  • Collaborates on Projects : Working with internal and external resources on specific projects fosters teamwork and leverages diverse expertise for better project outcomes.
  • Gains Specialized Knowledge : Learning and applying manufacturing principles and practices specific to Cummins enhances the role's effectiveness and contributes to personal and professional growth.
  • Hands-on machine issue troubleshooting : This includes addressing PLC logic issues and working closely with Skilled Trades during repair and troubleshooting activities. Your expertise in this area will ensure that machinery operates efficiently, and any issues are resolved promptly.
  • Coordination and implementation of new processes/equipment : By leading the implementation of new options for assigned equipment/areas and working with suppliers to source, design, and implement new machinery, you can drive innovation and improve operational efficiency.
  • Support production Assembly operations : Collaboratively participating in design reviews, troubleshooting events, and working in cross-functional teams will help support plant initiatives, improvements, and goals. This collaborative approach ensures that all departments are aligned and working towards common objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Equipment/Capital Procurement : Selects manufacturing equipment that meets Cummins specifications and project needs.
  • Manufacturing Analysis Led Design : Uses digital tools to model and simulate processes for data-driven decisions and continuous improvements.
  • Manufacturing Knowledge : Implements changes in processes, equipment, and applications to meet functional needs and drive continuous improvement.
  • Process Documentation : Produces standardized manufacturing procedures for consistency and continuity.
  • Tool and Fixture Design : Selects devices to securely hold parts during manufacturing to meet functional requirements.
  • Values Differences : Recognizes and values diverse perspectives and cultures.
  • Continuous Process Improvement : Identifies and implements process improvements and waste reduction methodologies to reduce costs and improve quality.
  • Problem Solving : Uses systematic analysis to solve problems, mentor others, and implement robust, data-based solutions to prevent recurrence.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

  • College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • Experience in powered DC torque tooling and PLC troubleshooting required
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Compensation

Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate's qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
