DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Machinist - Level III for the 2nd shift to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for our Cummins Inc. facility in Fletcher, NC.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Ensuring Safety : By adhering to Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) standards and protocols, you'll help maintain a safe working environment and minimize risks.
  • Promoting Quality : Applying high standards of workmanship and craftsmanship will ensure the production of high-quality components and reduce costs associated with quality issues.
  • Supporting Maintenance : Providing feedback into the Preventive Maintenance system and performing maintenance activities will help maintain equipment uptime and reliability.
  • Enhancing Efficiency : Setting up and operating machine tools proficiently, and using precision measuring devices, will optimize the manufacturing process and meet specifications.
  • Mentoring Team Members : Instructing and coaching less experienced team members will foster a collaborative and skilled workforce.
  • Improving Processes : Actively participating in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) teams and solving problems will lead to continuous improvement in quality, safety, and process efficiency.
  • Maintaining Cleanliness : Keeping a clean and orderly work area will contribute to a safer and more efficient workplace.
  • Effective Communication : Communicating effectively with your team and support teams will ensure smooth operations and alignment with business goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Tool and Fixture Design : Select and design effective work-piece-holding devices to secure parts and products during manufacturing processes, ensuring they meet functional requirements.
  • Effective Communication : Communicate clearly and effectively with team members and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and smooth operations.
  • Continuous Learning : Actively seek opportunities for growth and development, both formally and informally, to stay updated with industry trends and enhance your skills.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Information:

This position is responsible for the safe setup, operation, inspection, and operator maintenance of various Lap Line work-centers in the gearing department.

Position is responsible to produce components that meet and/or exceed design engineering specifications, while meeting standard productivity cost and delivery targets.

Position will be able to perform changeovers, setups, recognize machining issues and make machine/process adjustments as needed.
