DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Accountant to join our team specializing in Finance for our Financial Department in Gaborone, Botswana.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways :

  • Maintaining Financial Integrity: By accurately maintaining the department's general ledger, you'll ensure the financial records are reliable and up-to-date.
  • Identifying Variances: Your financial analysis skills will help identify and analyze variances in the department's chart of accounts and financial statements, providing valuable insights.
  • Timely Reporting: By analyzing, recording, and reporting accounting transactions promptly, you'll support timely and informed decision-making.
  • General Ledger Entries: Preparing accurate general ledger entries and account reconciliations will ensure the financial data is precise and consistent.
  • Supporting Audits: Responding to inquiries from management, internal and external auditors, and the Sarbanes-Oxley audit group will facilitate smooth and efficient audit processes.
  • Special Reporting: Handling special reporting requests will provide tailored financial information to meet specific needs and support strategic initiatives.
  • Confidentiality: By protecting the organization's value through confidentiality, you'll safeguard sensitive financial information and maintain trust.
  • Enhancing Efficiency: Your proactive approach to financial analysis and reporting will contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting department.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Strong Financial Acumen: Demonstrate expertise in financial analysis, internal controls, and regulatory compliance to ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting.
  • Effective Communication Skills: Communicate clearly and effectively with stakeholders, management, and auditors to support financial operations and reporting.
  • Ownership and Initiative: Take ownership of accounting sections, support month-end close processes, and maintain a clean balance sheet with robust reconciliations.
  • Regional and Functional Expertise: Provide deep functional expertise, support regional projects, and help roll out scalable tools and best practices across Southern Africa.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/ Experience

  • College, university, or equivalent degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.
  • Minimal relevant professional work experience in the field of study required.
