DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Health, Safety and Environmental Project Specialist - Senior to join our team specializing in Health and Safety in Bloomfield, CT.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Build Relationships Across Functions : Foster strong connections with colleagues from various departments to enhance collaboration and drive collective success.
  • Drive Positive Health, Safety, and Environmental Culture : Champion initiatives that promote a safe and environmentally responsible workplace, ensuring compliance and fostering a culture of well-being.
  • Consult with Employees : Engage with employees to gather their insights and involve them in the development and implementation of impactful programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Identify Strategic Risk Improvement Projects : Analyze hazard identification and risk assessment results to pinpoint areas for improvement and develop strategic projects to enhance safety and compliance.
  • Monitor and Measure Performance Metrics : Track health, safety, and environmental performance, legal compliance, and audit results to prioritize projects using a data-driven approach.
  • Manage Project Teams : Lead project teams to set goals, create plans, and achieve milestones, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Develop Training and Communication Materials : Create and deliver training sessions and communication materials to support project implementation and continuous improvement.
  • Lead Cross-Functional Teams : Guide teams in defining and implementing innovative solutions to minimize risks and enhance safety, while coaching and developing team members.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Influence HSE Culture : Champion positive health and safety behaviors, influencing leaders and employees to create a safe and supportive environment.
  • Measure and Evaluate Performance : Collect and analyze data to create key performance indicators, evaluate trends, and inform strategy to protect employees and the environment.
  • Conduct Risk Assessments : Evaluate hazards and prioritize risks, implementing control measures to reduce risk as low as reasonably practicable.
  • Deliver Training : Engage and instruct learners effectively, ensuring they acquire the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to apply on the job.
  • Manage Projects : Balance scope, schedule, and resources for projects, ensuring successful completion and realization of project goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

  • College, university, or equivalent degree required. Occupational Health, Safety or Environmental degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Intermediate relevant experience required, including team leadership and project management.
  • Experience with Industrial Safety Standards preferred. 3-5 years of experience.

Additional Skills/Qualifications:

  • SO14001:2015 experience
  • Wastewater treatment system experience
  • Wastewater Discharge Permits
  • Air permitting (Permit by Rule): data collection
  • SWPPP and SPCC plans
  • Forklift training (classroom and hands-on)
  • Environmental Contractor Management
  • TRI Form R

Additional Information:

  • This is not a hybrid role, this is a fully on-site role.

Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate's qualifications and experience where appropriate.
